hello all,
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of great honeymoon resorts to look at? We are looking at the indian ocean after being recommended to us by various people who have said we will be going just as monsoon season is ending and it is a great time to go.
We have no idea where to start?! Maldives, Seychelles and Mauritius all look fabulous but it is hard to narrow it down! Anyone been anywhere they can recommend or have any tips etc?
Thanks!!
Guess it depends what you want from your honeymoon. Found the Seychelles slightly dissapointing though La Digue was a beautiful island - also not a part of the world to do on the cheap - its expensive to eat out. Can't comment on the others as not have got round them yet. Places in South East Asia are coming into season then - Thailand for example.
Thailand, we hadn't thought about there. I will add it to the list. Is the weather nice there in November?
It is really difficult trying to narrow down the list! I am slightly put off by they Seychelles due to the shark attack. I know it might seem silly but I am not sure if I could relax in the sea.....
Budget wise, well we don't really have one. Ideally would like to keep it under 8k.

Have you considered Sri Lanka, when I was there a few years ago the beach hotel where I spent a few days conducted a couple of weddings. I had a conversation with one of the brides the day after the ceremony and it sounded as though everything had worked out beautifully. There are a number of luxury beach hotels in the country where weddings take place. I did hear that one of the couples staying in the hotel that week had married in the Maldives then flown to Sri Lanka for the honeymoon so that they could do a few tours to see some the country and also have relaxing time on the beach.
I personally haven't been to Mauritius but from what I've heard from friends who have visited the island it sounds like a lovely destination for a wedding/honeymoon.

Thank you. I have noticed that you can do some time in Sri Lanka and then the Maldives quite easily through Kuoni for example. We just want total luxury. Some good places for snorkelling, diving etc.We just want to spend 3 weeks watching the world go by really.
Add Penang, Langkawi or Pangkor to your list with a stop off in Kuala Lumpur. Pangkor is tiny and a great place to just sit and relax all day.

My trip to Sri Lanka was with Kuoni, I have travelled to quite a few destinations with them and the've always been excellent.
Thanks everyone for your input. Really appreciate it.
Would you recommend doing 3 weeks in one place for example the Maldives, or would you recommend moving between places? I haven't used Kuoni before, are they good at building a package?
Thanks again

It really depends on what you want to do. I personally wouldn't want to stay in one place for 3 whole weeks, but I'm not a beach person and usually only like a few days of lazing around. If as you said you only want to watch the world go by then I understand the Maldives might be the perfect place but a honeymoon combining the Maldives with Sri Lanka might give you the option of seeing a few places of interest if you wanted a change.
Thailand is a great destination for a two centered holiday, a few days in Bangkok at either the start or end of your honeymoon shouldn't be missed. Malaysia would be similar a few days in Kula Lumpur( or even Singapore) and then a beach resort.
I pretty much book my holidays independently these days butin the pastKuoni have been very good about adapting to
my needs, either with a total tailor made holiday or by adding extra days and destinations to an already advertised package. There are other travel firms who specialise in building packages I believe Travelbag and Trailfinders are pretty good.
Quite a few of the members on here travel often to the Far East and I'm sure will have lots of hotel/resort recommendations when you decide on a destination.
One other idea could be the opposite direction, the USA, a two centre honeymoon with a few days in either Los Angeles or San Francisco and then a couple of weeks in Hawaii.
Wherever you choose to go I hope you have a lovely honeymoon.

Have you booked a holiday to get over it
Sounds great, but knackering
Enjoy, it does sound like the holiday of a lifetime although by the time I got to the hotel all I'd want to do is sleep
