Donkeys years ago we went with Siesta by coach to Spain. Wasn't too bad a journey actually. Plus, the coaches are very modern now & look extremely comfortable.
I have friends over in Cumbria who work for a coach company. He's a driver she's the hostess. She provides hot drinks & small, hot snacks for the guests.
You'll certainly see more by coach.

done this countless times. main companies that do this are ferris holidays, siesta and shearings. some companies use the ferry and others the tunnel. coaches nowadays are very comfortable, have entertainment, have hostesses serving hot and cold drinks and take regular breaks so you can stretch your legs along the route.
