we just returned from 9 days in venice , rome, and sorrento

venice is the best by a mile. but more expensive than rest. rome is full of thieves they tried to rob us several times and i got pickpocketed for 70 euros on a the bus one day, great city though sdespite that. sorrento is scenic but too commercialised for me. avoid naples its a dump.

the lakes, easy to get there, (malpensa), lots to see and do, frendly people, good cheap hotels.......... I live here, its ace......
