Asvem is only 1 hr away much quieter beach however you still get an odd seller walking past.

Morjem and Arumbol will be nice and quite.

Also when we were last there March 2005 the government had a massive crackdown on beach sellers and there was hardly any compared to previous years. In fact i dont think we were asked once to buy gear.

Dunno if its still the same this season but would have imagined you will have no problems.

If you sit a little further in the sunbeds at the shacks & not at the front you will not be pestered as much, but I think it is blown a little out of preportion, if you are firm and show no intrest & don't say maybe tomorrow (because they will remember) you will not find it that bad.

And as previously said any of the beaches further north are quieter

Not for me but for the missus and my daughter who get travel sick

Can I recommend seabands (a simple bracelet) I did not believe they would work but my son cannot travel over an hour normally, but with these he has been all the way to france without sickness

You'll probably find that Candolim Beach is relatively empty during April in any case but if you stick to the Southern End (South of the River Princess wreck) then you won't get badgered particularly.

If not then go to Big Vagator and go the very northern end of the beach, you'll be fine. There is a shack there but it can't be seen until you walk right to the end.

There are better beaches but Vagator it is quite close time wise. Also you can pop up to Nine Bar (a bar overlooking the 3 vagator beaches) after for the sunsets.

The other place that should be relatively quiet is Coco Beach but we're not too sure how clean it is - there's a thread on here about it.

Try going further north to Kerry ( not sure of spelling) beach for a day so peaceful, some caves there, only a few sun beds and even less people. We were not bothered by anything or any one and had a very nice lunch at the Dolphin shack. We had some really good sightings of Dolphins from here, we watched them for ages and the guy from the shack had a pair of binoculars at hand. I think we travelled from Candolin end of Calangute in less than an hour and paid 850rupees for a taxi for the day. We enjoyed all the beaches we visited but this was the favourite.

I've just got back from Palolem this afternoon. I know it's a pain of a taxi ride if you feel car sick but it's so worth it!!!
We sat on the beach this morning at 10am and watched a pod of 3 dolphins playing around, a very lucky American tourist was in the sea at the time and decided to make a swim towards the dolphins......she got within 10 metres of them. The dolphins were circling her, she was out there alone with them for about 5 mins before a group of men swam out towards her and scared the dolphins away.
Palolem was very quiet and very peaceful although I did notice an increase in the number of beggars and hawkers since my last visit in december!!
If you don't fancy the long taxi ride, try Bogmalo beach.....it's also very relaxed and beautiful.

We found Morjim beach to be the best one we visited. Not one hawker and miles of white sand and clear waters. It took about 45 minutes in a taxi from Candolim and cost us 700 rupees return. Well worth the money.

Never had that much of a problem with beggars or hawkers on Candolim beach as they security guys chase them away. Get plenty on the streets though now and noticed has been a huge increase in the woman with babies begging this year and they are a pain!

Go to the Calamari shack, stay close to the shack and you won't get pestered with the sellers. the people who own the shack also own the land so the boys come out and tell the sellers to move on.
The beds close to the sea in front of the Calamari belong to an old guy who charges 50Rs per bed per day this is O.K. if you dont want to eat in shack and only want to sunbathe.

We have just returned from our first trip to Goa.......brave the travel sickness as we found the beaches in Candilim dirty with dog dirt...in Baga the sellers woke us up...a very brave thing to do! and Canengute was a nightmare as it was so packed we didn't even stay long enough to say what the sellers and beggers were like. Further up North the beaches were less packed, cleaner and the sellers walked past without bothering us.....also found the waves were less 'life threatening'...you will see what I mean!!
