Just booked DIY again, this time to Fuerteventura (previous t times to Tenerife).

Staying at Barcelo Jandia Mar. Barcelo currently have up to 75% off all their hotels for specific months of the season. Gutted as we had just missed the 75% by a day (my wife has to get permission for a holiday), but we got the 50% off deal.

Thomas Cook (who incidently we will fly with) worked out at £2700 for our family in this hotel (they appear to be the only mainline travel agent doing it).

We've done it DIY for £2450 AND we will have an AirCon MPV for the whole holiday (we could save another £380 if we didn't have the car and did coach transfers instead). Plus we've pre-booked seats and have meals in that cost (would be extra on the Thomas Cook "we won't be beaten price").

All the Fuerteventura properties are on either 50% or 75% off. If we had of got on the 75%, would have saved another £350.

Be warned if a hotel does a number of board types, only the "lowest" will be on the "big saving" offer.

Also you cannot change the dates, its a non-refundable deal.

Because of the lack of choices in flights to Fuerteventura I didn't believe this kind of "saving" could be done, I am glad I was wrong.

Yet another reason to DIY!
