They tried that one with my mother, she had no hand luggage either, so she opened her case, got dad to get some carrier bags, and put the couple of kilos of she was overweight into the carrier bags!

they had let the cases go down belt before telling us ,otherwise we would have done same thing

Think thats the rip off, they let your case's go down the belt, then tell you that you are over weight :rage, plus always check the scales are reading zero BEFORE putting your luggage on!!

This really annoys me, whats the difference between carrying 5 kilos in your hand luggage, or the 5 kilos in your case? It aint as though the hand luggage is going to fly back on it's own!!

If the case is five kilos overweight then it may be considered to heavy for the baggage handlers to lift and lay. If you think about it you may manage to carry a case that's five kilos over but you are only doing it for a short time the handlers are doing it all day.

The same goes for a couple who decide to use one case for their holiday who you may think can have it at forty kilos but the rules say nothing above 32 kilos in a single case. This is in this country as it is part of the health and safety at work conditions.

These baggage allowance charges infuriate me! My daughter recently travelled back in a half empty plane.She had her five year old daughter with her (full price air fare!)
Her luggage was five kilos over and she was charged for it! Why do they not make allowances for the number of passengers on board?
