Hi, I had a fantastic cruise on the Emerald with a friend last year but unfortunately she can't go with me this year and all my friends and family are unavailble too so I've decided to go on my own. I wondered if anyone else has done this and what it was like? I'm quite happy to get to know new people but I know it's difficult if everyone else is in couples or families. So any advice would be gratefully accepted!
Hi Susie and welcome to HT!
A great many of our members went on singles cruises last year as part of the Daily Express £10 cruise offer and all had a great time.
Most cruises seem to organise a singles get together on the first full day on board so that you can meet others in the same situation and possibly arrange to go on trips together or meet up for dinner or a drink.
I hope you have a great cruise and look forward to reading your review on your return.

Hi Luci and thanks for your message.I was really looking forward to being able to do my own thing for a change but as it's getting nearer the holiday I'm beginning to get a bit nervous. As you say I'll go to the singles meeting and I'm sure I'll meet other singles. I'll let you know!

There are, but it depends what you're looking for. There's a small boutique that sells everything from clothes to cameras and of course there's an off license type thing, but if you're looking to shop till you drop, save it for the ports

1) Those crazy Turks will take anything
Euros or Dollars are your best bet though
2) Yes they do, you can change them as often as you like
3) Can't help you there sorry as I've not been
4) It was either 1800 / 2000 or 1830 / 2030. I prefer the late, as it gives you time to get the last of the sun, have a shower and a beer before your meal. Being on the 6 o'clock sitting means you have to start packing up by 5pm
5) Yes, it's the usual 2 pin Euro type
6) It was last year, I'd guess it is this year too
7) Probably. To the best of my knowledge, the new restrictions don't necessarily apply when flying from many countries

thanks for the reply that was quick, set my mind at ease, got a superior outside plus cabin but dont know number only booked yesterday so suppose we,ll have what ever is left, cant wait ,thanks again.
Here's another tip then. If you get the Thomson brochure, there is a phone number for pre-booking your cabin number. Give them a call and ask them what they have. If you have the brochure to hand at the same time, you can see where there are places and request it there and then. I've done this twice now.

Hi Folks,
Does anyone have an email address of someone (hotel manager or similar would be great) on board the Emerald? I'm trying to get on board next week, but would really like to book a cabin in a specific area. You can't do this direct with Thomson once you're less than 15 days before departure, so I'm trying to circumnavigate their policies
Departure date will be a week today, and I haven't booked anything yet, so time is of the essence.
Thanks if you can help,
Phil.

Trust me you will enjoy the Emerald. as for single sailings, there is a little get together for all single people, we went along with someone we met and the ages vary dependant on the cruise.
You will always meet people onboard and just end up tagging along, you will still have fun.
I'm booked again, this time last minute (well sort of) i'm back on the last cruise in october) my wife cannot go so i'm with my mum. Any one else on Ancient Wonders?
