We have booked to go over Xmas.We are staying at the Anba Romani Hotel in Cala Millor for 11 nights.Booked flights with BMI Baby, hotel with Freedomdirect on all inclusive basis and transfers with Shuttle Direct and its only cost us £320pp for 4 adults.
This will be our first time in Majorca and realise things will be quiet but we dont mind at all.Even if it is cold the weather has got to be slightly better than at home.

Hi jojouk. Thanks for your reply. That gives me somewhere to contact at least. I am going to Can Picafort on Thursday for a week and may be able to find out more whilst I'm there. Cheers.
Generally speaking, for visits to Mallorca at Christmas (and during the winter) there will be more open in Palma (hotels, shops and attractions) or close by, so Magaluf or Palmanova could be possibilities. Others can maybe advise on places to stay there. As for the rest of the island, whilst it isn't closed down it can be very very quiet. For instance, I live in Playa de Muro (between Alcudia and Can Picafort). Can Pic and Playa de Muro are pretty much totally dead, Alcudia has about five hotels and quite a few bars/restaurants active, but even so it feels very quiet. Puerto Pollensa is quieter still.
This all said there are plenty of things open around the island all year but a car becomes pretty useful then.

Try the Sol Magalluf Park at http://www.solmelia.com which stays open through the winter and is pretty hand for either Magalluf or Palma Nova, and you can book direct. Another hotel open will be Santa Lucia in Palma Nova, although I think Thomsons book all the rooms there, so you cannot DIY.
There is a rumour going around Magalluf at the minute that the Fiesta Sahara will be closing in December, January and February, which it never has before, and I know of people who have booked there, and will be looking for replacement accomodation, so I'd be quick and book it before the Mag Park is full!
Cheers

we have just come back from mallorca and we are staying in jardin del playa at christmas in santa ponsa. we were talking to a englishman who runs a bar in sillot he said even though a lot of places close they line the strrets with loads of lights even though everything is closed. He recommended the magaluf area as he said it would have a few bars open. It will be our first time abroad at christmas i no it will be cold and quite but just want to get away.
My twopennyworth - stay in central Palma somewhere near the cathedral and you'll find plenty to do; it's a working city after all. At Christmas the resorts can be rather quiet and options a tad limited if you don't hire a car.
