A couple of my friends want to get their son christened in Goa when they visit in a few months. How do they go about it? Do they need to arrange it beforehand, or can they just go to a catholic church whilst they are there and sort it out from there?
Thanks
Nicola
I take it no one knows anything about this?
I would have assumed it would be the same as in the UK. Give them all the evidence that you are christian etc get the water thrown on your head and off down the pub to celebrate or shack in this instance

I think it all depends on what type of service etc they go for. For example if they just want a blessing then a few quid in the church funds is all thats required. However if they go the whole hog and get the child babtised they will need to provide evidence that the godparents are committed christians how they obtain that evidence is beyond me (branded on the bottom by the local vicar or something).
Check out http://www.baptism.org.uk/christening.htm it maybe able to answer your questions or get your friends to nip down the local church and ask the vicar.
At the end of the day if you can get married in goa by greasing the palms of the local "establishment" a christening should be no problem at all.
Gemma but you failed to notice the discreet use of the devil
