Bharats just across the road from the ronil.
We had a drink there a couple of weeks ago.We knew we had made a mistake ordering a couple of beers as we walked in.
The bar area is desperate to be cleaned
The toilets were the most disgusting, filthy, smelly revolting ones we came across anywhere.
They also sell food on the premises.
Should rename the place Bar Rats

Thanks for that tip. Will try to give Bahrats a miss then, but u know what it's like "just one more before we turn in" ???
When we first went to Goa 15 years ago the toilet at the Bharat Bar was even worse than it is now. It wasnt even plumbed in!!! and there was no door on it, just a net curtain that you could see through.
It still remains a popular bar though, maybe because it stays open late.
We have often gone in for a drink before turning in when we have been staying at the Ronil but rather than use the toilet I would go across the road and use the one in reception at the Ronil. Its directly acoss the road and only takes a minute or two longer than using the one at the Bharat Bar.

Thanks for the tip Minnie9, thats the benefit of chatting to someone who has been to these places before. I remember someone who whinged about the toilets in the reception area of the Ronil Beach, so I guess it may well be a flip of the coin or depending on how desperate we may be??
HD2, Bharats is an OK chill bar, as we have found after a hard day on the beach and the guys who serve you are really freindly, if you go ask to speak to Vim (waiter) and tell him you where recomended for a chill out drink by the chap who gave him the George Michael CD at Christmas and that we will see him again next Christmas, also the contact for the Ronil if you want to ring direct which I would advise for the booking of rooms in V block is as follow; 00918322276101 or you can also use the last three digets of 099 instead of 101 (dont cost much to ring direct), ask for Ramidge he is one of the desk porters and he will sort it for you, thats if there is a room available, if there's is not one at your time of arriving he will sort the next available, best room numbers are as follows V, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25. Hope you and MT2 have good hols looking forward to your reports when you get back.
PS and yes the toilets are a bit bad but I have seen worse......Jxk8......

Walks, Hi, when are you at the Ronil? We are there from 23rd March for 2 weeks.
Hi Walks,
Dont worry about staying at the Ronil. We have stayed there three times without complaint. The rooms are cleaned daily to a good standard. We havent had a damp room but I believe there were some problems with some of the rooms in V block though I dont know from personal experience as we havent stayed in that block.
The staff are friendly, the food is good, there are two swimming pools and the toilet in reception has never been dirty when I have used it, it just gets a bit "grubby" by the end of the day.
The hotel is conveniently situated for shops, restaurants and the beach.
It is true however that some restaurants and bars have dirty toilets but not all, some are very clean.
On a final positive note, the good things in Goa far outweigh the bad.
Have a great holiday.

Many, many thanks for all your help, can't say we've ever had bad rooms whenever we've been away so i may just take a chance and see what we end up with, don't think it could be that bad that it would be inhabitable, if it is then complain like hell if and when. Que sera...etc
Only 10 more home sleeps to go!!
