I've always used http://www.dollar.co.uk because they have been the cheapest in Florida. Some people have booked through third parties and got Dollar and paid less, but I've never experienced anybody beating them direct.

Factor into the equation mainly new cars, in 2006 I had a Dodge Caliber with 12 miles on the clock, and thats why I often stick with Dollar....the service is also second to none as well.

Dollar have excellent rates actually, but the website won't work and the call centre charge double!

I just put in some dummy dates and had no issues. What dates are you looking at?

November, It was becuase I wanted to pick up at MCO and drop off at Cape Canveral whilst i'm on my cruise.
I got round it by booking in and out of orlando then ringing them to amend drop off to port canaveral.

So thanks for the recommendation. Last time I looked Dollar were more expensive, but I have bagged a bargain now and have saved £134!

Thanks again

The best car hire sites we normally use are http://www.netflights.com/carhire/ or
http://www.usrentacar.co.uk. I would always go for the top package which includes a full tank petrol and an additional driver, it saves you having to return the car with petrol at the end holiday and definitely works out cheaper than them charger you for petrol at the end.

Enterprise car rental are usually the cheapest. They will come and pick you up too! :tup

Netflights are excellent and are usually very competitive in price as you can get all insurances and a full tank of gas in the 'Platinum' deal

Ended up having to re pay Alamo 630 quid for a car usrentacar took no responsibilty at all put a nasty taste to the holiday

Long story short. .... Virgin credit card have refunded my money from usrentacar here in uk and so have Alamo result but caused alot of stress on holiday :(

http://www.carhire3000.com and http://www.netflights.co.uk always come highly recommended on forums I visit. I believe CH3000 don't charge a one way fee.

I have just tried to find car hire for a week, with all of these links for next april (2010) from 20 - 27 driver age 39. none can offer me anything???
I heard on the news a while back car hire would be more expensive because of the recession, firms werent having such large fleets. I have never found this before though.

There is a shortage of hire cars in Spain and Portugal this summer, but I haven't read anything about the US.

Perhaps try calling them. I've read that CH3000 are very good on the phone.

That's certainly strange, I'd give it a week or so and try again. I find it hard to believe they have 'sold out' of cars for that date next year?
