Hi Chris

You might like to go to Inveraray Jail, which is a museum of an 18th centuary prison.

also in Inveraray is the castle, home of The Duke of Argyll

The largest town near there is Oban

in Oban you will find The Scottish Sealife Sanctuary and a choice of shops.

Due to the time of year you might find that some of the visitor attractions are closed or have limited opening time so you should double check that they are open before travelling to them.
You should be aware that due to the geographical location you will have a bit of driving before you get to any location you want to visit.

Hi, the Oban Rare Breeds Farm Park is great fun as you get to feed and stroke Deer ect they have a website but its down at the moment but just google the name and you will get lots of info. We also went dryslope skiing in Scotland cant remember where but there are a few centres, doesnt matter if you cant ski as you can book a lesson that was great fun.

Enjoy you holiday, wish I was going, I love Scotland.

You might also want to take the train from Loch Awe into Glasow or other places on the route.

A very interesting trip for the whole family which is right on Loch Awe, is the Hyro Electric power station built inside Ben Cruachan. You get taken in right into the heart of the mountain where a guide tells you all about the place. It is a great tourist attraction and it would be a shame to miss it. Enjoy!

Indeed as digby mentions the Hydro Electric power station tour would have been excellent but it closes mid December until the end of January / mid February for maintenance so won't be open

Hi
Got back just before the new year after our first visit to Scotland, we had an excellent time.
The cottage was just perfect, total solitude apart from a few highland cows and sheep!
After Christmas Dinner it was great to go for bit of a walk and take in the breath taking views.
We went to Inverary prison, well worth a visit, kids enjoyed it too.
Took the ferry from Oban to the Isle of Mull and visited Tobermory (Balamory), very nice, probably alot more to do in the summer. But still enjoyable by all.
On the way back we broke up the journey by stopping at Glasgow Science Centre, also went up the viewing tower. Very very good, highly recommended. (we then had a night in a supersaver travelodge @ Dumfries)
Looking at going back over new year this year, totally hooked, maybe further north into the highlands.
Thanks for all the responses.

Hi, can I ask where you stayed? Do you have a link?

Thanks

Hi Northern,
We stayed at barr-beithe-upper which is on Blarghour Farm.
If you google Blarghour Farm you'll find their website.
Very nice if you want to be totally away from it all. (9 miles one way & 12 miles the other on a single track road to the nearest A road)
