I had a holiday in mind for Santana but did not book it and I have lost it. I now look like paying an extra hundred to go to the Highland instead. Serves me right for dithering!

Sympathies! you could book the flights and acommodation separately usually works out cheaper?
I'm sorry to hear that, Dee - but I'm not really surprised as I did say that the Santana is very popular and we were gutted that we couldn't get in (for our 4th visit) in Feb. I couldn't even get availability by booking separately.
BUT - I also pointed out that there has been a few reports of over-booking at the Santana.
The Highland Beach is also much more central in Candolim than the Santana (and has lots of repeat custom) and the part of beach there has not been damaged by the River Princess.
So (if you ignore the £100 extra) I think it's swings and roundabouts and I'm sure you'll still have a great holiday.
