hi i am flying on tom406 to SHARM EL SHEIKH in september dose any one no what plane i be on and i see there to flight numbers so is there 2 flight that day or just the one thanks

I have just booked my seats for my trip in September, I was hoping for 1C but it was already taken on the outbound :( I thought today was the first day for choosing seats.

However I tried to book excess baggage but it only gave me the option to book sports equipment and scuba kit isn't listed, only bicycles, golf, windsurfers and something else, yet the flight extras link says excess baggage can be booked. I was hoping not to have to phone Thomsons as I have called them 4 times since I paid my balance on June 4th and still haven't received a confirmation of my payment. I also get conflicting information regarding the cost of extra baggage each time I call.

petey,

Welcome onboard :tup
LGW-SSH-LGW (TOM406/7) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. There are several flights to Sharm, but two Thomson Airways on a Thursday; TOM406/7 and TOM396/7 both with the same scheduled departure time. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Feebee,

You don't need to book extra allowance for scuba equipment. Just arrive at check-in with your c-card and you'll get an extra 5kg allowance free of charge (details here about half way down under 'Can I take golf clubs or other sports equipment, such as a surf board, bicycle, or skis, on the flight?'). I'll be doing the same to the Maldives in 10 weeks time. You used to have to pre-book the extra allowance, but haven't had to for the last couple of years. Just remember that even if you pre-book extra allowance, no bag over 23kg will be permitted to travel. I normally put all my diving gear in the suitcase padded with clothes up to 20kg, then take a second small bag with the remaining cloths up to 5kg.

Thanks Darren, I still need to book an extra 10kg in addition to the 5kg free and the 5kg already booked.

I seem to be loosing the will to live with Thomson's. So far I have about 6 different telephone numbers to book excess baggage. Tried again today after being on hold for 15 minutes I was told I have to use the 0844 871 0885 number which turned out to be closed on Sunday's.

Why can't the different systems "talk" to each other. It also seems Thomson have never heard of the British SubAqua Club :(

Feebee,

Sorry to hear of your problems, but I can't say I've ever had a problem like that. Every employee won't know who BSAC / PADI / CMAS etc are, but that's not important as you only need to show your c-card at check-in to prove you're diving and are a qualified diver to get the 5kg divers allowance. You don't need to pre-book that. It's normally easy to book the extra luggage allowance online. Have you tried this number; 0871 231 4793 or the cheap rate alternatives on Say No To 0870.com?

trace104,

I haven't got the list yet. I'll update the IFE as soon as I see it. It's linked from our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

EDIT: I've just updated it.

thanks darren i need to have medical seats on a plane what seats are best as need to have room for my legs as i have a stoma thanks
Reply
petey,

There are designated medical seats on all aircraft that can be allocated to you if you discuss your needs with the airline. If you need extra room, it's likely row 2 (on the right side) of the Boeing 757-200, or seat 13F.

Just to update everyone on my earlier query on in-flight meals - I spoke to Thomson Lakes and they confirmed we will get meals on our flight, but after November this year no-one will get them. Glad to have got it sorted out!

Darren thank you so much for the telephone number, I found a Say No to 0871 number which was answered by someone at Tui and was transfered to another number, my initial reaction was oh no not again.

Anyway I spoke to a great advisor called Rachel and she booked my excess and it was cheaper than I had been previously told. I also asked for something in writing about the total allowance I had and she did that for me. She said I would receive a confirmation within a few minutes - which I did, complete with notes stating my total allowance.

Thank you Rachel

britabroad,

Seating in personal preference. IFE screens are located over the isle approximately every 4 rows. The first screen in the rear cabin is just forward of row 32, then approximately row 36 so any of the rows you're looking at will be fine.
