Possibly because my holiday isnt due until November, i am not at all bothered as i never eat the inflight food in any case, but it was included free with Red Sea Holidays, and i booked this holiday last year.

My parents are flying with Thomson in November and they know nothing about this. I will need to speak to them.

It depends which tour operator they booked with if it was a tui company it has as I said been advertised since winter 2011-12 season went on sale but others have obviously decided not to pass information on e.g Thomas cook/travel agents/independents

What are people's opinions of the day before check in that Thompson offer at LGW? we are considering using this as we drive up from the southwest and stay in a hotel overnight and leave for the airport at 5am. So no lugging bags into Hotel then out of hotel then onto taxi and so on lol.

nooooooobs, if you are staying o/night before holiday DEFFO worth checking in day before - gives you an extra 1.5 hours in bed before your flight,no queueing with stuffed suitcases, plenty of time to have breakfast/cuppa before going to the gate.
The only downside is that you have to take all members of the party and all luggage ( inc. hand luggage ) to the check in - last time they wanted to weigh all our hand luggage as well. Mind you. not sure what good that is,as you could go back to the car/hotel and repack your hand luggage with extra I suppose!!

We find that Gatwick at ~ 6:00pm is best; not many people about waiting to check in but still early enuf to get to the hotel in plenty of time for a shower, drink & dinner.

Brewerdave.

Thats some very handy info there thanks. We will def do it then. So we can take out hand luggage away with us once they have weighed it?

The only down side I guess is all the other passengers might have the same idea lol. How do we know which check in to go to for the day before check in?

Hi James, you can take your hand luggage back with you after you have checked in, the check in area is in zone c , and whenever we have used this service we have only had to wait once , there are not too many people around at 5 to 6 pm

Racegirl the Thomson check in is zone c and d the airport is very busy early morning I think you could easily check in from 4am if you want plenty of time for breakfast , because by 5am there are bigger queues at check in and also security gets busy from 5am onwards .

I have used the day before check in the last two years at Manchester and had no problems with it, and found it a great time saver, especially last year when my in laws who travelled with me were given free fast track through security even though they werent premier like us. They didn't weigh the hand luggage either year.

Will be using it again this year.

On another note, I wondered if the ever helpful Darren could let me know which type of planes operate TOM 166/7 MAN-PUJ-MAN.

Thanks.

Thanks for that info, we will most definitely be using the service then. It will make things alot less stressful and make the overnight stay in London more enjoyable. :-)

Refer to my previous reply from January. Just check the screens when entering the terminal for desk numbers.

Hi there,

You kindly helped out by letting me know what plane we will be travelling on to Cancun from Gatwick on the 22nd November (Ex First Choice 767-300ER) I am going to try and pre book seats so could you again advise what seats are the best for a couple travelling in Premium Economy? I was thinking the front 2 but I'm not sure how the entertainment system works in these rows. Also is the Premium Economy cabin seperated from the economy section or is it all together?

Thanks

Hi Murphy
The downside to the front seats is that you can't stretch your legs under the seat infront, and they also don't usually have usuable overhead storage space directly above them. Also no seat infront to put a bag under. The ex FCA have a bulkhead between economy and premium. Also a curtain across the aisle.

Thank you, good points, I didnt think about the seat storage, maybe better to go a row back then in that case. Many thanks
