jim98,
TOM118/9 is generally an ex-FCA too. If it's a pair of seats you're after, even if there's a change of aircraft, you'll still have a 2. Changes only occur when there's no choice, they don't 'decide' to change it, for example a technical issue so it's either a lengthy delay or different aircraft. Replacement aircraft are 2-4-2 so you'll still have a pair of seats.

flying lgw to pfo jan 18 12 do you know what plane i will be on
tom 4314 back on 4315
thanks pete
I know it is too early for confirmed information but I was thinking about our flight.
We've been to Cape Verde before and we were on a 757 (former First Choice) and found the seating uncomfortable on a flight of this length. I know Thomson generally do use their 757's to Cape Verde but I know they are being phased out and replaced with 737-800's. We flew to Egypt last year on one of their brand new 737's and found it excellent (seating, mood lighting etc.).
So, do you know if the 737's have the range to get to Cape Verde non-stop? If so, maybe they will start being used on the Cape Verde routes?
Again, I know it is too early for anything to be confirmed but was just a little curious as given the choice we would much prefer to be on a 737 rather than a 757.
Thanks in advance.
By the look of the dates you are mentioning, it seems that it's a bit late for the question
Whoops! Yeah ha. We are travelling in 9.8.2012.
LGW-PFO-LGW (TOM4314/5) are operated by an Airbus A321-200. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

The 737's won't be operating to Cape Verde due to range, it's a 757-200 destination. MAN-SID is 2761 miles which pushes the maximum range of the 73H. The ex-TOM 757's have the same seat design as the 737's, ie slimline Recaro's that give you more knee room so you'll have to hope they assign an ex-TOM rather than an ex-FCA this time.

thanks Darren
Thanks for the information Darren. I wonder what they will use on the route once the 757's leave the fleet. Possibly the new 787's if the 737's can't make it?
Not all the 757's are leaving the fleet, only the older ones. They'll be around for a while yet. The 767 / 787 is too large capacity wise for that route.

We are travelling to Jamaica on flight TOM 30 on 20th Dec in Premium and really looking forward to our holiday. We have flown with Thomson many times and have always been vey happy with the flights. However I have read some very poor reviews from people who have flown with Thomson recently particalarly regarding aircraft changes. Just wondering if anyone on this site has flown with Thomson recently.
Many Thanks,

Many Thanks,

You could say that

Many of the aircraft changes are scheduled and planned lately, most if not all customers have been advised by letter/email. Also many customers travel frequently and are used to either an ex Thomsonfly or ex First Choice and have their favourite for various reasons, it has just comes as surprise when they are on the opposite plane to what they are used to. There has been a lot of changes to accommodate maintenance and to get the right aircraft on the right route- i.e. more economy seats or more premium seats rather than it always being one type of aircraft at one base(LGW always used to always have ex-FC aircraft, but more often than not premium could not be filled or not be filled profitably)
I wouldn't worry about any changes, any more than any other airline.
Thanks for your quick response.
is to early to find out what type of plane we will be flying on,go on the 15 july manchester to Enfida flight number tom778/779
also we have booked 25kg luggage allowance will this be ok in one case as i have read cases can't be over 23kg on health and safety grounds.
thanks in advance for your help you do a great job
MAN-NBE-MAN (TOM778/9) are operated by a Boeing 757-200. The maximum weight for checked-in luggage is 23kg. Anything over 23kg will be refused travel. If you want to take 25kg, you'll have to take 2 bags with a combined weight of 25kg, and none exceeding 23kg.

cheers darren super quick reply
Does someone know what happened to flight TOM144 yesterday ? It seems it was heavily delayed but left from Gatwick. I'm surprised as long-haul flight numbers from Gatwick start with 0 normally ...
It was only an hour and 5 minutes delayed, I wouldn't say it was heavily. The scheduled departure was 0940 and it left the gate at 1045. The scheduled arrival in CUN was 1435z. It made up a few minutes inflight and arrived at 1542z, operated by G-OOBL. It's showing as MAN-CUN as normal on my screen.
Darren
That's very strange as it shows delayed from yesterday and having left from Gatwick on my app ...
do you know if flight TOM2294 Man-TFS on 27/12/11 is a Thomson or an ex First Choice plane yet, or is it still to early to know?
Also do you mknow where this plane will be ariving from prior to our departure?
cheers
