Thomson starts roll out of new aircraft
Thomson Airways took delivery of the first of 22 Boeing Next-Generation 737-800s today.
The airline will have four of the new aircraft in operation by April, operating from Bournemouth, Doncaster, Luton and East Midlands.
All 22 are scheduled to be operating on short and medium-haul routes by summer 2013.
The aircraft are 15% more efficient and also improve customer comfort thanks to LED mood lighting, larger overhead stow bins, less noise, and a new-style seat that feels more spacious.
Seat pitch and recline, however, remain the same.
Thomson Airways will also take delivery of eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners from 2012.

Could you tell me which aircraft type for the following please :
flight no TOM 126
MANCHESTER TO PUNTA CANA,DOMINICAN REBUBLIC
APRIL 29th - 2011
Thank you.
MAN-PUJ-MAN (TOM126/7) are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER, more than likely in the ex-Thomsonfly configuration.

David, I went on a Thomson 737-800 last year from EMA to Halkidiki. Are these 737s that you mention different to the one I went on?
Interior wise, apart from the cabin improvements mentioned in Davids post, they are the same as the current 73H's (737-800 winglets). Seat pitches are the same. The main improvement with the 737NG is the fuel efficiency.
Darren
Thanks for the reply Darren. I enjoyed the flight on the 737 last year, I had extra legroom, but my favorite is the 757. The takeoffs from small Greek airports are fantastic, a real push in the back! I would love to take off from Skiathos on a 757, the runway is very short. Last time I went to Skiathos it was in a 737-300 which had to land and refuel at Thesalonica.
The 752 has the highest power-weight ratio of all the airliners making it a sports car of the sky. A none de-rated take-off is rather fun! It's a shame many airlines are now phasing them out as they're being replaced by newer generation aircraft. Even today though, there's no true replacement for the 752 in terms of range and performance. A remarkable feat of design and engineering with some of the younger ones being given a new lease of life with the addition of API blended winglets. They'll be in the TOM fleet for a while yet though.

I was wondering if you can help me out?? I was wondering which type of plane and seat layout I will be flying in and out on???
We are off to Florida (sanford) on 20th August 2011 - until 3rd Sept 2011. I know the flight out is at 10.05 from LGW, but unsure of return flight??

Thanks for your help

Welcome onboard

LGW-SFB-LGW are operated by a Boeing 767-300/ER, more than likely in the former First Choice configuration. I'll be able to confirm this from May. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below) including aircraft photos and seat plans.

Thankyou Darren
Had the dreaded phone call. Aircraft in for service, change of plane.
Is the re-placement in short haul seating guise. Thanks
I received a message this morining from a British friend that works/lives our in Hurghada, who has advised me that Thomson, Monarch and Jet2 airlines have stopped flying into Hurghada, from what I can gather due to fuel shortages. Do you have any knowledge of this?
Regards,
Pat

I don't think the runway at Skiathos is wide enough for a B757.
Does anyone know where I can find online, what I am likely to pay in extra charges if I want to purchase an extra 20kg of hold baggage.
20kg is a lot, and they will probably charge you a lot. They normally charge about £25 or £30 for 5kg depending on where you are flying to.
Welcome onboard

What were you told about your flights? If you were notified of a change, I would assume it's a change to a short haul aircraft.
Darren
Just that the aircraft was in for service, and that there would be no premium class available. Also seats
allocated at airport. Cheers S/MICK
Actually 20kg isn't a lot when you take a full set of dive kit. I know I can phone then but last time I got the incorrect information so I wanted to see something in writing.
