travelling Sunday 22nd July Manchester to Sharm el Sheikh TOM546.
Any idea what plane this will be.
First choice advertise Sharm as a long haul holiday yet I believe the flight entertainment has been removed if flight not longer than 7 hrs.
5 and half hours should be long haul surely and should still have ife and meals in my opinion.

I reckon its because EasyJet now fly to Sharm el Sheikh
- so other airlines like Thomson and Thomas Cook have to compete pricewise
That's why you get no meals and no IFE for five and a half boring, hungry, cramped hours.
Heaven help us if EasyCrush or RyanSquash ever buy bigger planes and start crossing the Atlantic.
Five and half hours isn't longhaul. The removal of IFE and meals isn't anything to do with Easyjet. More to do with more and more customers not prebooking meals and buying meal deals etc before they board, and less and less people watching the IFE, preferring ipods, ipads, netbooks, PSP's etc.
This route started as long haul but was then changed to be classed as short haul.
BA class Sharm as long haul, but unfortunately the charters have always done it as a short haul route.
It certainly influences my booking decisions but I fear I'm not representing the majority!

Flights to Egypt are classed as Mid Haul.

To us passengers / customers - what is the difference between short and mid haul?
Afraid I can't answer that, but we have flown to Egypt 6 times and it has always been classed as Mid Haul. Pehaps one of the Moderators on here will be able to answer the question for you? As far as I am aware Long Haul is classed as 7 hours or over ....... but I maybe wrong??
Regards,
Pat
Classing the flight as "Mid-Haul" enables the operators to charge you more than short-haul for the extra legroom seats but still provide the cramped standard seat-pitch that is just about acceptable on a flight to Palma as long as you are no taller than 5'2".
Not sure of flying times involved but Portugal at about 3.5 is short, Canaries at about 4 hours are mid haul, so maybe upto 4 is short, 4-7 mid and 7 and over long?
I'm still in Cayo Levantado so will catch up on all the unanswered aircraft questions when I'm back at the weekend.

Daz - Enjoy Don Pablo!!
Having flown in Premium with Thomson 2 years ago, we have just booked Premium for our forthcoming trip to Mexico in August.
We are contemplating booking seat no's 1A and B due to the fact that nobody can recline onto you. However, I am aware that there will be a bulk head in front of us, and am just wondering how these seats compare to the others ...... hubby is 5' 8" and I am 5'5". We have flown mid haul to Egypt several times in the past and have always booked extra legroom seats (behind the bulk head) and the legroom has been great ...... just wondering how they compare?
Pat
Its ok in terms of legroom i have sat in the middle three seats of row1 and sometimes you tend to get knocked and people waiting for the toilet but i still think i would go for them again
"I noticed you said to somebody on here that the flights to menorca would be 737.
I am going to Menorca on 9th July from Manchester.
Will it be one of these New 737 with the sky interior, hope so!!"
Please can somebody help?
Would you say that there is as much legroom in row 1 as what there would be in rows 2-9/10?
The reason I'm swaying more towards row 1 is that when we last flew Premium, we opted for the last row as we felt that if we wanted to recline our seats we wouldn't be encroaching on anybodies space. However, on our return flight, a young girl sat in front of my husand had her seat reclined throughout the return journey, apart from when he was eating, and even then the cabin crew had to ask her to put her seat up!!
Pat
It's personal perception really. You'll get differing opinions from those who've sat their. Personally, I feel you get more legroom in the none bulkhead rows as you can strech your legs beneath the row in front. Having said that, you won't be short of room. I'll get you a photo of them if I get chance on Friday.

Can people see my posts lol?
Hi Darren, that would be great ....... thank you!
In row 1A and B, do the TV screens come out from the arm rest or are they on the bulk head?
