Using flightradar24.com I've noticed that the Thomson info is often all to c*ck anyway -eg 737s flying to Cuba and plane routes showing incorrectly like this morning's Newcastle to Corfu flight which seems to be showing as Larnaca to Manchester!!!

Hi Darren

We're on the TOM196 MAN/CUN this Wednesday, May 30th.

A friend "in the know" reckons we will be on G-OOBK, which he is teasing us has a chequered history.

What is he meaning, or is it just a wind-up?

We've got 3 F/G out to avoid the sunniest side and 2 A/B on our return.

Thanks in advance.

I believe that aircraft has had a couple of "hard landings" - most recently one at Bristol which took it out of service for a while.

However it was repaired and would not be flying if it were not completely safe.

PrimaVista,

Welcome onboard :tup
There are no guarantees G-OOBK will be operating your flight on Wednesday as things can change between now and then. I should know tomorrow. As ukbill mentioned, that particular aircraft has had a couple of hard landing over the years resulting in damage to the airframe towards the front. The aircraft was extensively repaired both times and is 100% airworthy, it wouldn't have a certificate or airworthyness from the CAA and be allowed to fly otherwise. I've travelled on this aircraft since it's last hard landing, and on several other aircraft that have had similar incidents. It's nothing to worry about. There's plenty of photos of the aircraft here and extensive aircraft inforamtion on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Hi Darren, BY-TOM-AMM-FCA, etal

Flying TOM054/5 on the 10 June which I believe is a an ex FC plane.

For the first time we have decided to travel to/from the airport by rail, this leaves us with a dilemma about the booking time of the return leg. Is there any data showing time performance for this route? Barring unforeseen events is there any historical data regarding flights that are regularly delayed/late.

Also any info on the incoming flight prior to TOM054.

Many thanks

gc,

TOM054/5 are indeed ex-FCA. The only information you can go off for your return flight is the scheduled arrival time. The majority of flights run to schedule, it's only a small percentage that don't. What will be will be on the day. Leave sufficient time between your scheduled arrival and the train, don't be tempted to leave a minimum amount of time. Allow an hour or two for a slight delay. Other than that, it's a 'how long is a piece of string' type question. The inbound aircraft should be TOM047 from Sanford.

Nice one Darren,

As I thought but nice to be reassured, now to decide, book exact trains or pay extra for more flexibility and peace of mind.

All the best

gc - also bear in mind that the flight might arrive on time - but at that time of the morning there are quite a few flights arriving - this can lead to queues at Immigration and significant hold ups on the baggage pick up.... so make sure you leave a couple of hours after scheduled landing time, as Dazbo says, if you book a specific train.

Thanks Darren, appreciate the info.

Won't tell the other half, at least not until a few cheeky Vodkas and a zopiclone have kicked in. :grin

Where does the aircraft come in from tomorrow morning before the 196 to CUN?

Cheers

PrimaVista,

The aircraft operating TOM196 comes in from Cancun (TOM122).

Hi There,

Can anyone comfirm is TOM044 and TOM045 is down as an ex FCA or Ex Thomsonfly for the summer season?

Many Thanks,

deals1982,

TOM044/5 is an ex-TOM at the moment, I'm just checking if this changes with aircraft coming back after maintenance.

EDIT: This is one of the flights being covered by an ex-TOM through May due to aircraft maintenance. It should be back to normal and an ex-FCA from June for the remainder of the summer.

Flight arrives Gatwick early evening @ 17:45hrs. Not sure what the queues will be like at that time but I think Ill go for the train 2hrs after scheduled landing time.

When I e-mailed you in late March, you said that flight TOM 2142 to Mahon from Manchester on Monday, June 18th would be a 737-800. Is this still the case, or has/will the type of aircraft be changed?
Is TOM 2143 from Mahon to Manchester, on Monday,July 2nd a 737-800 too?
many thanks!

Hi Folks, can someone help me out with some flight info. Flying to Cancun on TOM 866 on 28th August from Glasgow returning 2 weeks later on TOM 867. Are these planes THomson or ex FCA aircraft. Do you also know if there is a separate check in for Premium at Glasgow airport so we don't need to worry about huge queues. Thanx (getting excited even tho it's still ages away, been waiting a long time for this ) Darren you used to know what films would be on - do you know what they will be for this flight :cheers

geemac,

GLA-CUN-GLA (TOM866/7) are operated by former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. Premium passengers should have a dedicated premium check-in desk. IFE is linked from our what Aircraft? guide (link below). The current listing is May / June. You'll have to wait until the beginning of July for the July / August listing to be released. I'll update it as soon as I get it.
