Question for Darren please:-
Does this suggest that Thomson are using a longhaul plane on this route all summer – will I be lucky? Or is it likely just a short term thing while planes are in maintenance?

As BEfreeTODAY mentions, it's now in short haul for the rest of the summer. I saw her last week on the remote apron at MAN while taxiing out on my way to JFK looking rather smart.

paulbos,

It's too early as aircraft can change between now and then. I'll know on Friday evening. It makes little diffrence as all but one are identical inside, and then it's just the position of a few seats.

Thanks for that. I remember which ones I travelled in last year so it would just be interesting to see if this time they're the same or different birds.

thanks darren for the seat widths is that the same on all aircraft when we travelled premium with thomas cook it seemed smaller than that :cheers

ps thank you too miss pink for all your help :cheers

topofthetower,

Seat widths vary by aircraft and airline. Thomas Cook's premium seating is the same at 18 inches, long haul economy is 16.5 inches.

Thanks for the prompt reply Darren and BEfreeTODAY.
I came back from Varadero on the repainted G-OBYG last month.
(I think it was in longhaul config then but I didn't count the seats, and, come to think, it wasn't full),
The paintjob was quite elegant.

Too much to hope for a nice 34inch seatpitch on just a 4hr flight to Antalya I guess.
However I reckon it's still more pleasant to fly on a 767 even if in shorthaul config, than a narrow body jet, so that's good..

NCL-ALC-NCL (TOM1210/1) are operated by Boeing 737-800. You'll find extensive aircraft information on this topic and on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Thank you for your speedy reply.

Do you know the differences between the Boeing 737-800 and the Boeing 757-200?
I am a nervous flyer so i like to know the in's and out's of everything!

Thank you again.

SparklingDust,

Technically, they are a vastly different aircraft. From a passengers perspective though, there's not a lot of difference. The configuration is pretty much the same, it's just the 757-200 is a longer aircraft and therefore has more rows of seats. You'll find links to aircraft photos and seat plans on our What Aircraft? guide.

Re TOM 7684 from Birminghams to Gerona 7/7/12

After asking earlier apparently this is a 757 type ?

My daughter now has extra legroom seats on row 16, but this row does not show legroom on a 757 type. It does however show legroom on 737 type ?

Have we got this wrong ?

AMSTERDAM,

BHX-GRO-BHX (TOM7684/5) is showing on the schedule as operated by Boeing 757-200. However, having checked flight logs for June, it's been operated by G-FDZF (Boeing 737-800) so it looks like it's been changed since the schedule I have was printed.

That would explain everything.

I do seem to remember being told that BHX was going to be a 757 only base for summer 2012 but as others have said seems that a 737-800 is now based there. It may only be temporary of got a 757 in for maintainnence

Hello,

I am travelling from Manchester to Bourgas outbound 24/9 on TOM2130, and returning 1/10 on TOM 2131.

Basically we paid for pre book seats last year, I have found out only today because we have an infant travelling on our knee we will be allocated seats where there is an extra oxygen mask.

I feel quite annoyed as we have booked through the travel agent and wouldnt have bothered paying extra for pre book if they had told us they will seat us where is best.

Before I go in to complain to thomson can anybody tell me which aircraft we will be travelling on, and whether I am making a big deal out of nothing lol? Are they limited seats with the extra oxygen as we were hoping to pre book seats right at the front with 1 adult sitting behind at window seat. We are a party of 4 adults, 1 infant.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks

MAN-BOJ-MAN (TOM2130/1) are operated by Boeing 737-800. It's no big deal really. Seating is personal preference and there are no 'best' seats on the aircraft. It makes little difference where you sit really as all seats other than extra legroom have the same facilities. Your limited to the ones with extra oxygen mask but those seats are the same as all the others.

Many thanks for your reply Darren, I just feel a little cheated that we were under the impression we could pretty much book any seats available&now they are saying different, but perhaps not a big deal really aslong as we are all together.

I will have a little look at the seating plan now i know what plane we are likely to be on.

Thanks v much.

You shouldn't have a problem booking any seats on the 737 then, it's only the 757 that you have to be seated in certain seats, and even then some aircraft the crew can move you depending on individual oxygen mask locations. The only requirement is that only one infant can be sat in each set of seats (1 in ABC and 1 in DEF seats) for each row. So if you have two infants or another group have booked part of that row you will not be able to occupy it as well with your infant.

Hi,

Great site and forums, only just discovered!

We are due to fly Manchester to Cancun, 14 Aug 2012 flight TOM 122
Cancun to Manchester, 25 Aug 2012 flight TOM 145

Are you able to tell us which B767-300 (V.1,V.2, V.3 specifically) will be allocated for these flights, and do you have any info on its previous destination etc.

We have pre booked our seats but are unsure as to whether we have made a decent choice!

Thanks in advance! :D
