Many thanks for your information, the answers were largely as I expected. The centre of the cabin is no big deal even if I would prefer a window!
I hope we dont get bumped ...I would chose lesser seats but it would irk me to not get a refund on the tax!
Thanks again.
Cheers

To be honest, other than take-off and landing and subject to the specific routing on the day, you'll be over the Atantic for 9+ hours so there's very little to see. The approach in to Cancun isn't the most spectacular either once you get overland and subject to the wind direction and hence runway in use, you won't miss much. I know what you mean though, just nice to have something to look out of and lean against!

Hi Darren, happy new year.

I wondered if you have details of the summer 2013 schedules as yet.
We've just had an email from Thomson advising that our flight times MAN-RMF (TOM376/7) on 5.6.13 had been changed, so thought this may mean the schedules have been confirmed.
I called them but the woman in the Programme Change dept. wasn't sure of the aircraft type, do you have the information confirmed yet?

Thanks in advance.

jmac,

Schedules are normally done up to year in advance, but for operational reasons, have to change slightly closer to the commencement of the schedule. It's only a time change from what I can see. MAN-RMF-MAN (TOM376/7) should be a Boeing 757-200.

Hi, i recently booked a holiday with thomson online, this includes Hotel, Flights etc. i understand that if you book online "everything" is done by email. Can anyone tell me if i have to print off boarding cards for the flight or do i get them at the airport ? Usually go in to the thomson shop but booked online this time, any info will be great.

Hello

hope someone can help - tried to book extra legroom AND seats together today for my flight on 22nd feb - tom 1558 - ncl to tenerife south - stupid lady on phone said could take my money and pay for extra legroom but couldn't guarantee the seats would be together but she knew there was availability but could not say where they were?? - would have to wait 24 hours to check and request together - surely they cannot be that many seats with extra legroom - checked seat pitch and says standard CAN be 28 inches but does not say definately as little as this

any ideas on exactly which aircraft it will be - indications say 737-800 with extra legroom on rows 15 and 16 and also says no ife on these flights now

helllllppppp????

meyrick,

Thomson (Airways) don't operate online checkin (yet) so you'll still have to check-in at the airport as normal. You may be confusing e-tickets with online check-in. You won't receive any tickets for your flight, but you'll have e-tickets. All you need is your booking reference number for check-in which are your e-tickets, then you check-in as normal.

STRESSEDMOTHER,

Welcome onboard :tup
NCL-TFS-NCL (TOM1558/9) are operated by Boeing 737-800. Extra legroom seating are indicated on the seat plan that is linked from our What Aircraft? guide as Wizard mentions above. Even though you can book extra legroom seating, you may not always be together. This isn't the fault of the person on the phone so no need to refer to them as stupid lady. Due to the nature of aircraft seating, you may be seperated across an isle or one behind the other, but not at oposite ends of the aircraft. If you can, row 16 are good exit row seats as the ones in front do not recline, but it's personal preference. Standard seat pitch is 28" on the 73H, exit rows (15 and 16) and approxately 38".

Due to go to Manchester/Cancun tomorrow. TOM196
I notice that on Thomsons own flight arrivals website they are anticipating ALREADY more than a four hour delay on this flight.
Doe anyone have any idea what is going wrong?
I cannot spot whatever it is having a huge delay inbound to Manchester.

Curiouser and curiouser...
I now see that Thomson are expecting a delay INBOUND to Manchester from Cancun of TOM123 TODAY of what appears to be nearly 18 hours!! (Despite the fact that TOM122 going out only had a 2 hour delay)
BUT – the Manchester airport website is suggesting that TOM 196 – my flight – is still leaving on time tomorrow morning.
Is there REALLY a delay on TOM196 and if so how much and why?

Hi to all,
Does anybody know why Tom 54 operated by G-PJLO to and from Maldives, Scheduled departure from LGW Sunday 6th January 18:55 seems to be over 24 hours late and not due back until Wednesday.

Reason for asking is that 4 years ago we were on the receiving end of a 24 hour delay due to lack of available aircraft due to technical issues.

Will this be more common whilst awaiting the arrival of the fleets B787's - with their dodgy APU batteries ( alleged) -
or
"D" checks catching up with the fleet.

I see from UKBill that there are issues in Manchester as well??

joe3400,

There was a technical problem with the aircraft resulting in delays and knock-on effects. It is nothing to do with maintenance or D checks. Aircraft are complex machines and have problems from time to time.

ukbill,

There are knock-on delays in the fleet at the moment due to a problem with an aircraft. Your inbound aircraft is normally TOM123. You'll just have to wait and see if operations can do their magic and get things back on track.

Thanks for the fast response Darren.
I guess I just have to brace myself for the fun of potentially sitting around Manchester Airport for maybe seven hours since they still want folk to arrive 3 hours before the original departure time.

I do think it's a pity that they can send everyone text messages offering silly "win your holiday" gambling games the day before a flight, but are completely incapable of texting folks the latest news regarding flight times. One has to just go to the airport and hope.

ukbill,

The reason you still need to check-in on time is operations could get your sorted sooner, if there is a delay. It's far easier having everyone in one place than have to start making 150 phone calls to get everyone to the airport. Not everyone will have provided mobile phone numbers or email addresses at the time of booking. While it's a nice idea, in practice, it doesn't work. A text or an email isn't really useful when you need to ensure the message has reached the recipient. At least with everyone at the airport, announcements can be made where everyone will (should) get it.

Hopefully, it won't be a problem for you. Have a great holiday :cheers :sun2

Thanks Darren as usual

I was trying to dig a bit deeper and did wonder if there was sufficient resilience in the fleet of 767's to compensate for tech issues, and yes, I do realize that keeping an aircraft free to "fill in" as such would not make financial sense.

Sadly it looks like the horrible expected delay of TOM196 from Manchester tomorrow is getting worse. Thomson are now forecasting a delay of over five and a half hours.
And the situation regarding the return of TOM123 from Cancun is completely confusing. It now seems to be delayed until the early hours of Thursday morning, so there's no way this can now operate TOM196.
I'm just hoping Thomson flight operations will NOT do what they did to me back in 2011 when they had aircraft breakdowns. Instead of using one of their own nice 767s, they chartered a horrible cramped Thomas Cook 767 (no IFE, no premium, cramped 30in seatpitch, ghastly food) to bring us back from the Dominican Republic.
All the charter companies do seem to be cutting flight times to the bone with very little allowances to cover for breakdowns.
