Previous years I've found that its been possible to access "Select my Seat" before the 90 day window from return date, but this year no sign yet and we return on 13th May from DR which I make 90 days...anyone else finding delays ? Could it be due to the state of flux re 787 situation??

I think actually they are working to 91 days at present. I recently booked my seats to/from Sharm el Sheikh and thats a 757 so unlikely a Dreamliner fiasco issue and I tried daily, it only let me book at the 91 day return flight mark.

Really ticked off with thomsons now - decided that because its important to me to be in premium that I would change my holiday completely away from dreamliner Mexico in May and expected charges of £50 each to do so. Not the case £300!! It's shocking I was happy to waiver the extra price I had paid for the Dreamliner that may or may not arrive and ok ish with £100 fee but £300 extra is beyond a joke

Looks like they are wanting to cash in on all the people wanting to change holidays now they wont be on the dreamliner, bet it was in the small print as a precaution in case boeing failed to deliver yet again.

A change of aircraft has been in the small print for a numbers of years, nothing has changed their. Aircraft can change at any time due to operational reasons. While it's unfortunate those looking forward to the 787-8 in May may not experience it now, subject to what happens with Boeing over the next few weeks, there's not a lot Thomson can do about it. It's not their fault, it's Boeings. This isn't cashing in as you put it, it's just the way it is. What's more important, 1 or 2 weeks in the sun or the type of aircraft that takes you their? While I can understand dissapointment, surely it's the holiday that counts. I can't understand why people would want to cancel their holiday purely on the basis it's a different aircraft that's taking them their. If you don't want the holiday based on an alternative aircraft, that has the same basic facilities as the 787-8, then you'll have a cancellation fee.

Totally agree with you darren, im flying to mexico on the 23rd and still going lol. Was just saying that in the small print somwhere there will be hefty fees for cancellation or moving holidays, there always is. Which is understandable as thomson will loose that money and possibly wont resell it in the small amount of time left to advertise.

The reason I need the premium confirming is a medical condition I have which is why I pay extra at least 3 times a year to secure that. I'm gutted that you have taken my valid point of the charges for extra monies to change as a secondary matter to my holiday which it is not. All are just as important to me! The flight is important to me. I pay for the privilege. I know Thomson WILL be compensated by Boeing so why should I be penalised for their combined problems?

Thomson will NOT guarantee me premium seats. I'm not bothered if its a 767 or 787 I need the service I have booked that's all. It's not like I was waiting for the £10 they are offering if you don't get on a Dreamliner. £300 extra is a joke

I would suggest trying someone like virgin or ba then if premium is that important over extra leg room for example

Thats fair enough, they should atleast give preference for medical reasons. As if there is a premium cabin then there will still be premium seats just not as many as the 787.
Were kind of in the same boat as we have booked extra legroom as my wife has knee problems so they need to be streched out whilst sitting, but i dont see any reason why there would be any less if these seats

For 8 years it has not been an issue. I have gone with BA and virgin in the past bit I'm from the North East and very restricted with other airlines that mainly go from Gatwick

If you have a medical, that's different. I remember you posting about it before now. My comments above are about those wanting to cancel their holidays just because it may not be operated by a 787-8. Did you ask about the availability of medical seats? I would wait until the end of this month as a decision will be made then about whether the 787-8 will be in use from May, then try again. At this stage, it's impossable to get a guarantee as the airline don't know if they will have an aircraft in service as yet and if not, what the alternative will be. Just have a little patience.

Darren. The problem is that by the time the will make the final contingency plans I will be too close to my departure date to change or cancel (70 day at present without more costs). I am very frustrated that they cannot play fair under the circumstances

Thomsons never guarantee premium seats, Dreamliner or not. How can they? What if there was a late aircraft change because of technical reasons, and the replacement didn't have a premium cabin?

Everyone is worrying about premium but let's not forget the majority of Thomson airways long haul fleet has MORE premium seats than a 787. If anything nearly 20 passengers per flight will be upgraded. Yes the ex Britannia 767's have less premium, they can be configured to any seating config- they are more flexible than the ex-FC 767's we could see a(and the rumour is) a bigger premium cabin on the These aircraft whilst still maintaining 2-4-2 config in economy- to go someway to meeting the 291 seating plan on the 787.
