Qman,
Not really. Where are they going to get 2 or 3 757-200's from at the busiest time of the year? The 757 doesn't have the range to cover most of the long haul programme without technical stops plus they need to be ETOPS rated (not all are), have available crews and i'm sure passengers wouldn't want the extra flight time this would involved either. It would also be very costly to impliment. My information is ex-TOM 767's will be deployed, but all is still up in the air.
No one poo poooed anyones comments. All I said was we need to wait until there is official information from a reliable source before commenting on the length of any delay. Speculation rarely proves to be accurate. While a contigency is beeing looked at and the information I'm getting from Thomson Airways suggests there will be a delay to the introduction of the 787, there is still nothing official from Boeing or the airline so no one knows at this stage, and certainly nothing to suggest the delay you initially suggested. It's just a waiting game until things are announced. I don't see it as a major problem anyway. Thomson will make arrangements to get everyone on their holidays. It's not about who is right or wrong, it's about passing on reliable information to benefit members.
