Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Well I'm back.

BY-TOM-AMM-FCA: I did not mean to cause any offence with my post - I was simply asking why (knowing that Thomson are using only the ex-FCA planes for L/H this winter) it had been substituted for an ex-Tfly aircraft. I am aware that TUI are a European country but am probably guilty of assuming that because Thomson almost exclusively use the ex-FCA fleet for UK based L/H flights, then they would all remain based here and the TFly craft sent out to other countries (FCA being an old UK company also).

As it happens, although a bit disappointing to be on one of the S/H aircraft (G-OBYH), it was not as bad as I imagined it would probably be, and hats off to Thomson for arranging the replacement so as to not create any delay to the flight. That said, G-DBLA on the way back was a much nicer passenger experience - the wider (and more comfortable) seats with more legroom are in a different league on the ex-FCA aircraft (and I wasn't Premium - economy both ways).

Hi. Could you please tell me which aircraft is likely to be used for flights from NCL to PMI 13/20 July 2013. Flight numbers TOM1646/7. Thank you in advance

gemboss,

NCL-SFB-NCL (TOM392/3) should be operated by former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER (9 rows in premium). I emphasise should as things may or ay not change depending on the 787-8 situation. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Hi Darren,

Im travelling on TOM172/173 MAN-PUJ 15th May reutnr 29th
- Perviously stated it was ex-fca, but when ive gone to pre-select my seats today its showed a layout of 2-4-2 with 47 rows which will be TOM longhaul.

Is that seatplan correct? Thomson seats are shorter in width than FCA!! Was looking forward to an ex-fca experience!

Cheers

Gavin

gav008,

If that is the plan uploaded on the seat selection page for your flight, that is correct. I agree, the ex-FCA's are a nicer experience. I'll have the pleasure again in just over 2 weeks time.

Due to the current grounding and delays of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, the leases of 2 ex-FCA 767-300/ER's (G-DBLA and G-PJLO) that were due to leave the fleet at the end of April and replaced by the 787-8's, have now been extended to cover the summer period. G-OOAN sadly left the fleet for conversion to a freighter in Singapore on 25th Feb. The other two are due for freighter conversion once they finally retire and the 787-8's are delivered.

Darren, presumably they will need 6 long haul fitted 767s for the season; if G-OOAN has gone which of the ex Thomsonfly planes is being re-rigged?

brewerdave,

I believe G-OBYD that was supposed to be going to Arkefly is now staying in the UK fleet, but that's yet to be confirmed. I'll post more when I get it.

Hey

Is thomson having some problems long haul fleet wise?

Just noticed G-OBYH is doing the Sanford flight from Manchester?

Anyone know why?

Thanks

Hi Darren,

I've just had a call off Thomson selling premium seats for my flights MAN-CUN in August and the lady said there were 31 or 41 - I can't remember but it was one of them! - seats in premium. Does that mean it is the ex-Thomson plane that people seem to dread getting and not an ex-FCA?

Just out of interest, are you able to haggle on the price offered and get it down a bit? She is calling me back cos I couldn't decide.

Thanks.

Hi Darren, just booked a week in Fuerteventura on the following flights ex MAN:

Wed 07 Aug 13, 15:10-19:35, TOM 2300
Wed 14 Aug 13, 20:55-01:05, TOM 2301

Do you have the aircraft type planned to operate these flights please?

Thanks in advance.

z.j.c - G-OOBL was in Cardiff this morning when I drove past, having returned from Barbados - flew back to Manchester but too late for Sanford outbound

z.j.c ,

Some of the ex-TOM 763's will be operating long haul, there's no issues.

cagzy,

It's too early to say the exact aircraft that will be operating in August with the 787-8 debacle still ongoing. 31 seats would suggest an ex-TOM is planned, there are no long haul aircraft currently configured with 41 premium seats, it's 31 or 63 currently. It's always worth haggling with anything, but I doubt it'll work at the moment.

jmac,

MAN-FUE-MAN (TOM2300/1) should be operated by Boeing 757-200, possibly Boeing 737-800. I'll know from May. It's normally an Airbus A321-200 but the remaining aircraft is leaving the fleet this month.
