Flight Only / Airline and Airports

Discussions relating to flight only, airlines and airports.
Hi Darren

I am flying LGW/CUN 25march11....can you tell me if this is a First Choice or Thom aircraft ?

And also are they still having many issues with the aircraft downgrades....if so how many flights are generally being affected etc ?

Many thx
:)

barney24,

Please quote flight numbers when requesting aircraft information, it's a very long list of flights! LGW-CUN-LGW (TOM062/3) are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. Aircraft weren't downgraded as such other than an odd flight that was covered by a short haul aircraft due to aircraft maintenance. There are no changes that I'm aware of (you'd have been notified if there were) unless there's a last minute technical issue.

Here is one for you extensive knowledge.
Will be flying to Boa vista from lgw during May and it would appear that the following aircraft is used regularly for this flight TOM590 G-OOBA B757-28A(ET) WL, which version of B757 is OOBA, looking at Thomson seat plan which list B757,v2,v3 to v5, and in which way do these versions differ.

joe3400,

Even though a particular aircraft is being used at the moment, it doesn't mean it will be in the future as aircraft are rotated, eg for maintenance every so often. G-OOBA is an ex-FCA (now in TOM livery) and I believe is V3. Differences are subtle so it makes little difference, it's just the position of the toilets and a couple of seats.

morning darren, hope you are looking forward to your holiday...whats with this flying with thomas cook business!? i thought you were a first choice long haul devotee ;) , let me guess...too expensive, tell me about it...we have paid over what we normally do this time, especially compared with thomas cook, but what the hell, we'reheading down to varadero for 2 weeks tomorrow morning from manchester, think its flight TOM172 at 9.15am, don't suppose you know what plane we are on do you? heading to the radisson blu this afternoon for a relaxing night at the airport before the flight in the morning, soooooo excited, we love cuba and cant wait to try varadero for the first time, anyhow, enjoy your hols, and any info on mine greatfully appreciated at this very late and giddy stage in the proceedings! :cheers :cheers

I am, but I fancied a change from the Boeing 767's, it's been too long since I was last on an A332. Plus, I got a good deal :tup
The aircraft operating your flight (TOM172/3) tomorrow is currently operating to Goa (TOM158/9). You'll be pleased to know it's due in 5 minutes early at the moment, 0025 in the morning ready to operate your flight. G-OOBL is your bird.

Have a great time in Varadero. I quited liked it, the beach is fantastic but it's a little too commercialised for me, not enough 'real' Cuba in Varadero compared to other places. You aren't too far from Havana, you have to visit their, it's a magical city.

glittergal,

IFE is changed at the beginning of May so we'll probably not have the information in time for you. The latest IFE information is linked on our What Aircraft? guide (link below).

Hi Darren,

We've booked to go to Cancun from Gatwick on 27th October on flight number TOM092 returning on 6th November TOM067. Would you be able to inform us of whether this will be an ex first choice 767 or thomson one please?

Also in premium economy are there any differences between the two, apart from the 1" difference in leg room?

Thanks
Nicola.

nicochick,

It's too early to know the specific aircraft assigned to your flight as yet. It's normally an ex-FCA 76W. I'll know more from May. There are slight differences in the premium cabins other than the 1" extra seat pitch on the ex-TOM and the size of the cabin (63 seats onthe ex-FCA, 31 on ex-TOM). The tray tables are in the ususual position mounted on the seat backs on the ex-TOM but on the ex-FCA, they are located in the arm rests and fold out. Arm rest are therefore fixed on the ex-FCA. There's mood lighting on the ex-FCA, although I'm not a fan of the purple glow. Everything else is pretty much the same.

flash7650,

I don't have the full summer 11 flight schedule as yet, I should get it at the end of this month so can confirm things then. LGW-DLM-LGW (TOM408/9) are normally a Boeing 767-304/ER (winglets / short haul).
