petaraven,
It's not unusual for aircraft to be swapped at destination in order to rotate them through different airports for maintenance etc.

Anybody know what has happened to TOM049 back from Cancun to Gatwick. Our friends are there and they said the flight has not just been delayed but cancelled.
Hi neavsie,
Not sure if this is the same flight, but have been reading on FB that the flight departing from East Midlands this morning turned back 3hrs into the flight and landed at Manchester. People from this flight have since been put up in the Britannia Hotel overnight and have been told the flight will now depart at 9am tomorrow morning, but not on the Dreamliner.

neavsie,
The aircraft had a technical problem while operating the TOM644 (G-TUIE, hydraulics) and had to air-return to Manchester to have it fixed. This is having onward impacts to other flights on that aircrafts rotation.

TOM048 (G-TUID) arrived in Cancun but the aircraft returned as TOM643 to Edinburgh,so presumably today's outbound aircraft taking the delayed holidaymakers to Cancun will return as TOM049 to LGW. I feel their pain as the same thing happened to us a few years ago en route to DR - we turned back 3 hours into flight and spent the first night of our holiday in the Hilton at Gatwick!!
Wonder if the "cancellation" of TOM049 yesterday was done early enough to allow the Gatwick bound passengers to stay in their original hotels -or were they already en route to Cancun??

They are still in the hotel, enjoying the all inclusive!
Hi Darren,
We are doing STN - RHO TOM5644 next month, which is on a 738.
Just wanted to confirm the rows that have no window is row 11?

I noticed another dreamliner flight has been diverted due to technical difficulties. We are flying a long long way on a dreamliner this weekend so I hope it is not that one!
It is the newest 787, G-TUIE. It has gone wrong 3 times in the last few days. It seems as if it is a friday afternoon plane.
If it was a brand new car you would send it back.

I just hope that they fix it before Saturday then lol

G-TUIF has since been delivered so it's the 2nd newest but still, the 787 entry in to service around the world is still having teething problems.

Hi all,
Flying again with TOM on 4th September to Cancun after a few holidays with Virgin...
Looking at Thomson timetables, 6 long-haul flights are happening on the day.
3 from Gatwick, 2 from Manchester and 1 from East Midlands ...
Is there any way to figure out if all those flights will be on Dreamliners ? I'm asking in case there might be a spare Dreamliner available if one of the scheduled ones goes tech ...
Furthermore, do you know which flight would the plane do before TOM92?
Thanks a lot in advance !

Julmops,
They are all Boeing 787-8's (they have 6 in their fleet). There's no spare 787-8, not at $200 million each! The standby aircraft for long haul is an ex-TOM Boeing 767-300/ER (G-OBYG). The flight before yours is Cancun (TOM048/9).

Could you tell us where our plan is coming from on Saturday. We are TOM32. Many thanks
As always Darren, you're the man ! Many thanks !
Thanks for correcting me on the newest 787, TUIF, Darren.
I believe TUIE is still in the Asores waiting for a new engine. If only Thomson had bought Rolls Royce engines, they are so reliable!
So it looks like one flight at the weekend will be on the short haul 767.
