TOM are an established ETOPS operator and the aircraft should come ETOPS certified so I would have thought introduction in to their long haul schedule wouldn't take that long. It's expected in long haul service in Feb 2011.

So were MyTravel/Airtours when they got the A330. However, they had to wait 6 months before they got ETOPS approval extended to cover the A330.

Travelling to Zante from Cardiff on 10th June,TOM 6514 - Presume its a 737 ?? If so, I've booked Extra space seats. Are some seats "better" than others for legroom? I ask because I travelled on an Astreaus 737 a few years ago, paid for ELR, but had a seat which didn't seem to be any roomier than the standard altho' the crew assured me it was!! :que

brewerdave,

CWL-ZTH-CWL (TOM6514/5) should indeed be operated by a 73H. Extra legroom seating are bookable to provide more room for those sat in them. I assume you were on the bulkhead seat with Astaeus? although these give extra room, due to the bulkhead, they are still a little limiting. You might want to consider the over wing exits on rows 15 and 16.

Welcome onboard :tup
It was a typo by Jay Trip, I knew what was meant! That is the latest information from Thomson regarding the 787 but I'm a little scepticle like you given the problems Boeing still seem to be having but until an announcement is made, Jan 2011 is what is currently scheduled. You can keep up to date here: Thomson Airways: Live the Dreamliner.

Thanks a lot Darren.73H IS 737-800 yes? I've been on Thomson site and they had preallocated 15E + F outbound and 15A + B on return - so have stuck with them. Its only a relatively short flight in daylight so hopefully I won't suffer !! :) Can't remember where I was sitting on Astraeus flight to Taba!!

Morning Darren,

My family and I are off to Cancun on the 26th June from Gatwick (TOM022) would you know the inbound flight prior to TOM022? would just be nice to have an idea if we are going to be delayed or not.

Thanks

When Mum paid for the holiday she asked about hand luggage for my twin girls and it's a no, hubby and I will have to have their things in our hand luggage. Will I be ok with a bum bag as well as the backpack I'm using for hand luggage?

Good thing is the girls have 10kgs each for the hold which can be combined to 20kgs between them so only 1 bag needed for that..

Here's the details as I'd like to know what the seat configuration is:

OUT: Mon 16th May 2011 TOM 428 Dep London Gatwick 0700 :yikes
RET: Mon 30th May 2011 TOM 429 Dep Bodrum 1350

Guessing that due to oxygen masks for infants, the girls are likely to have to be in different rows which can be worked round, hoping that they'll be able to be 1 row behind the other. Hannah can get upset if she can't see Sian which could mean a lot of :cry if the girls are 3/4 rows away from each other.

As long as your bumbag will fit in your hand luggage if they say something about it, and doesn't take it over the weight limit. When we flew from LGW a few weeks ago, they asked me to put my handbag in mine, and they were weighing everybody's on our flight.

The 5kg's might be a struggle for me by the time I've got the things for one of the girls in and my bumbag with purse, passports and camera case attached to the side strap, iPod, Kindle, DS and jewellery box, I'm going to be very close to if not over the 5kg's. Even now we've got children, my husband and I still go by the valuable, sentimental, electronic in hand luggage.

Thanks for the warning, good to know that Thomson are going down the Ryanair route.

Might not be an everyday thing, but it isn't the first time they've weighed my hand luggage. When I used to fly Thos Cook, they always weighed it as well. Perhaps it's just me lol.
I always take a fleece with zip pockets, and they are stuffed full and hubby's jacket has a few pockets and they're full too (with my stuff :rofl )

Not like Ryanair, at least you can still buy airside and carry that on the aircraft as well.

gooner1977,

The aircraft operating LGW-CUN-LGW (TOM022/3) should be coming in from Montego Bay, Jamaica. If you ask closer to the time, I should be able to confirm it for you.

cate_taylor,

Your flights are operated by Boeing 757-200 so 3-3. You are permitted one item of hand luggage per person up to the prescribed size and weight limit, that is often checked.

Cate,
Without giving away secrets (that I'm sure the check in staff know about anyway) - don't forget about the "hidden" pockets on your push-chairs that you can fill for check-in and then empty at the gate when handing over the buggies!
We've taken an extra hand baggage for the little one dangling off the push chair each time - check in staff either don't notice or are helpful in turning a blind eye! Crew have never said anythign about me walking on board with 4 bags!!
We haven't had our hand luggage weighed for ages (both TOM and TCX).

Darren,
Have you got the summer lists yet?
If so - can you confirm LGW SSH TOM632 is still a 752 on 28/5.
Ta.
