Coperto is cover charge or service charge I think
Reply
Coperto literally means 'cover' ie a nominal amount to cover the cost of providing you with a table cloth, serviette, and bread and/or grissini (breadsticks). It is a compulsory charge per person but is only small! Service is 'servizio' - and is either added to the bill or is payable directly to your waiter! Local wages are not the highest, so do reward good service if merited.
