I was wondering if anyone can offer any suggestions.
What I look for in a holiday abroad is good beaches (Sandy, nice and big, shelving into sea etc), authentic restaurants and bars/ night life, not too lively but not too quiet, maybe some pavement cafes to watch the world go by, things to do away from the beach too such as walking or excursions etc and if possible.... No rowdy chavs please. Any ideas??
Thanks
Lanzarote. I would choose Play Blanca. It's not as large or loud as Playa del Carmen and Teguise appeared a bit soulless to me. It's not a huge resort, it has a nice beach( not huge though)and some good restaurants lining the long traffic free promenade. You can walk, drive or take a taxi to the Papagayo beaches which are superb..
It's not far from the Timanfaya National Park which is well worth a visit to see the Volcano.

I was going to say Fueteventura ticked all your boxes micky
But reading youre other post one of us must be confused
I agree with Judith, but your requirements would probably be covered by quite a few Spanish resorts, hence their popularity with us all, they seem to have what we want
It also depends on flight time that suits you.
For me Playa Blanca is a good option , anytime from April to Oct for ideal weather, choice of 5* hotels or quality villas, clean and spacious beach and promenade, lots of good restaurants and many excellent ones with the customary high standard of service. plenty of places to go nearby like the marina and timanfaya, laid back atmosphere and friendly locals, easy 4 hour flight and Arrecife airport is good , not forgetting a good Rioja and San Miguel

I must agree, I have been to playa blanca in Lanzarote at the playa limones bungalows (very basic but ideal for us) and we loved it. Best european destination I think I have been to.
I went to fuerteventura about 7 years ago in the winter and loved it...went back to costa caleta agin last july/aug and hated it. I found it had become quite dirty and was very "british". Dont get me wrong, Im not against pie and chips but I dont want it when Im on holiday abroad. Most exotic food my son had was a chicken kiev!! The sight of many union jack towels flapping on the beach was laughable. However we did enjoy feeding the ground squirrels there, but it just didnt suit my taste of destination.
I was wondering about Majorca and what that has to offer?

Micky Calletta is the worst resort you could have picked
(man made beach I ask you) Its ok if you are a young family or Brits abroad types. You need to try the South Jandia or Costa Calma some of the finest beaches in the World 8)You may need to speak German though

Side, Turkey has everything you asked for, 5* resort hotels, no massive groups, places to walk to, good weather and culture thrown in.
