Please avoid and do not waste your money - lack of client centricity and clearly not the same standards as some of their neighbouring competitors who offers equally good locations but with a much more pleasant and welcoming attitude towards tourists / foreigners. The owner is the most unpleasant man in Kalyves and clearly has an issue with tourists in general : he probably perceives us as nice "cash cows" but would openly insult us in Greek behind our back (as reported by a local friend)... a grumpy and sad man whose negativity is not worth your time in this magnificent place...

We stayed at Thamiris after booking over the internet. Although we had booked a one bedroom apartment facing the front with 2 balconies this was occupied when we arrived and we spent the first two nights in a front facing studio. Yiannis the owner also offered us a two bed apartment facing the road. He was apologetic and welcoming. We did get our pre-booked room on the third day.
The rooms are spotless although the kitchen facilities need updating. There was a toaster, coffee-machine and kettle. Some of the rooms have air-con. The apartment was quite spacious and had 3 balconies on the second floor with new patio furniture. The sea facing rooms have a fantastic view of the sea and river, best in the resort I think.
There is a lovely garden with furniture overlooking the river. There are sunbeds in the garden which you can take onto the beach where there are permanent parasols. These are free.
Yiannis the owner is very relaxed and friendly. He is around a lot of the time and will give you advice on places to visit or suggestions for tavernas in the local villages. He will try to make sure you enjoy your stay. The apartments are in an excellent location in the village being on the beach at one side and on the main road close to the centre at the other side. I feel there could be some traffic noise if you face the road.
There is a gift shop selling British newspapers next door, a cake/ice-cream shop opposite. It is literally 2 minutes to the supermarket or ATM. There is private parking on the road outside. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again as long as we could get a sea-facing room.

Stayed at the Thamirakis studios in June 2007. Excellent location if you like peace and quiet. The studios have their own parasols and are kept spotlessly clean. Iannis and his brother look after their clients very well. We were taken out to a couple of beaches for swimming and snorkelling in Stelios boat and Iannis can answer any questions about the area and where to go. Have already booked for 2008.
