The hotel looked run down from the outside, however the interior was reasonable. Staff were very pleasant on arrival and gave us some literature which we later discovered was a warning about the possible presence of the Norovirus in the hotel.
Our room was adequate. Food unimaginative and just edible - not that I had much of it:I spent two days of our four-night stay in quarantine in my room suffering from the Norovirus. I was told five other guests were in the same predicament and I discovered there had been cases the previous weeks and several members of staff had also been ill. This virus is spread through contaminated surfaces and food - enough said!
As most guests using this hotel are elderly, I felt we should have been warned in advance and given the option to cancel the booking. I complained to head office but the company (W.A. Shearings)did not agree, despite professing to 'take care of everything' in their literature. They offered
