Although its called a hotel, it is more a set of apartments- 9 in all. It is adult only and in a fantastic position at one end of the Canteras beach.
We only had a 4 night stay so we splashed out on the suite. It is exactly as the hotel website photos shows. The lift takes you directly to the inside of the suite. There is a kitchen /living/bedroom. It is ultra modern. There was so much storage that you couldn't possibly use it all. The minibars were full of complimentary drinks and snacks. There was a bowl full of fruit..Everything seemed to have controls - ones to put off and on lights and to change the colours, one for the window and door shuttere, another for the tvs and one for the a/c. There was another one but I can't remember what it was for!
The terrace on the same floor is large, with comfy chairs and table and a hot tub. A spiral staircase takes you to another terrace with sunbeds, table and chairs and a chill out room with a settee, tv and minibar. There was an ouside toilet and shower but we didn't use them!
Breakfast was served in a nearby restaurant. We never had it but it was definitely a very popular place. The hotel staff were very good at their jobs. When there wasn't an English speaking receptionist on, they would phone someone who could answer our questions.
The beach is long and it has a promenade which takes 45minutes( at a fairly fast pace) to walk. We did that without stopping on the first day as OH had to go to the marathon exhibition to collect his number etc. It was a bit too long to walk on the day of the marathon so we took a taxi.
The promenade has loads of great restaurants lining it. I particularly enjoyed tapas and wine for lunch!
Away from the beach front, I wouldn't say I found the city picturesque at all. Its not one I would return to unless OH runs the marathon again. We used hop on/off bus but didn't bother getting off!
I would recommend the Wavia!
