After the granduer of Vegas and staying at the Bellagio, we expected to come back down to earth with a bump staying at one of the Grand Canyon Lodges...didn't know really what to expect as the reviews on tripadvisor.com aren't really that complimentary...had visions of this place being like a log cabin but it wasn't! We booked a canyon view room and yes we could see the GC as we were on the rim, well about 25 metres from it, not the most spectacular view but a view. The lodge isn't a pretty building like the Bright Angel Lodge next door (this is modern concrete) but was comfortable, clean, had a fridge, coffee maker (didn't have that in the Bellagio!)You have to check in/out at the Bright Angel too but that was no problem...we didn't expect to have snow on the ground but the place was warm and cosy and food can be had next door at the Bright Angel for breakfast and dinner at reasonable prices. To say you are staying at one of the wonders of the modern world, this is a great place at a great price.
