Finally rerouted on this evenings flight via HKG and LHR with Cathay. Qatar customer service is dire to say the least. The compensation offered is racially discriminating as they said it was due to my wife travelling on a non EU passport. I got the feeling that the €600 would have been offered if travelling on a european passport ( I pointed out that my wife has a permanent EU residency) so it may be a case for the courts to decide what is fair compensation.
