Hi Brian,

I spent the weekend at the airshow in Blackpool. Saturday was a washout, pretty much rained all day so the Reds could only to their low level restricted show. Sunday was much better. Torrential rain in the morning but it cleared up in time and they put on a fantastic show and did a high speed pass of the airport just for us photographers, thanks guys! It makes you feel proud to be British when you see them; the best pilots in the world flying the best fast jet trainer aircraft which is built just down the road from me! The rest of the show was ok, but overall, the Blackpool airshow is not what it used to be.

We love you too!!

If anyone wants to see the Red Arrows in action next weekend (28/29th July), they'll be based at Blackpool Airport from next friday until sunday afternoon and performing at the Windermere Airshow at Bowness. The display is at 12pm both days.

Yes, no worries. These are only 600 pixel images though and heavily compressed to keep the files small so they won't print that well. If you want high res versions, pm me with an email address. I took over 400 photo's over the weekend which will take me a while to process but also present were the Red Falcons parachute team who jumed out of the back of a C130 (Hercules), a Hawk T1 from the 208th Squadron and the Team Guinot wing walkers flying the Boeing Stearman biplanes. It would have been nice to see a Typhoon or two (who are about 60 seconds flying time from Blackpool), Tornadoes, Harriers, even a Grippen! but cut-backs are such they don't come these days. The memorial flight turned up on Sunday with a DC3, Spitfire and Hurricane but they flew in for the display and didn't land at Blackpool or even do a flypast so no photo's of them :(

Call me mad but I've entered a photo competition to fly with the Red Falcons on the C130 and maybe do a jump with them from 12,000ft. Wish me luck!

Saw them last week at Fairford. The ironic thing was that the star attraction in that show was the "Thunderbirds" (the American's best of the best) who rarely display outside of the US of A.

They were good, but sorry America, they had nothing on the reds!

They were here in Qatar last year a breath taking display made us proud to be Brits Abroad.

I agree, it does make you proud to be British and when my youngest lad was at Lincoln University and we drove down there, we sometimes would see them practising overhead ...a wonderful sight and we use to park the car up and stand watching them.

There was talk of scrapping them last year in a defence budget cost cutting exercise, but there was an on-line petition to Tony Blair to keep them...I think he did respond saying that their future is safe.

Despite the weather they did their performance at the Families day at RAF Marham in Norfolk yesterday. Did quite a few passes, all at low level as well :D

In a word....Fantastic.....a lot of the other flying programme was curtailed but the `Arrows` made it in..... :D :D

:yikes I'm sure members will appreciate the offer Lincoln Imp, but perhaps whatever you get up to in your back garden should be kept private. Now, back on topic please. :yikes
