Hi,
As said on one of your other posts we are frequent visitors 5years following awaiting our 6th visit.
Money for the Dom Rep has always been Pesos with us especially as you are staying at the ICD the shop there only takes Pesos for payment. So we also tip in Pesos. Trips can be paid by credit cards,or $US and Pesos, not Sterling.
We do take some $US for the Tourist Visa on entry $10 per person and $20 per person for exit if this is not included in your holiday price.
If you use $US in the Dom. Rep you will get your change in Pesos, then it gets too confusing to work out how much everything is costing you.
Hope this helps.

It depends whether you are going north or south. peso's are more generally used in the north we found. We also found that exchanging dollars to pesos once in the country actually worked out the best economy as opposed to getting peso's to the pound here in the UK. As a result we always take dollars (high denomination for north because just changing to peso's; but small denominations for south as tend to be used more as currency due to it being mostly tourist orientated in the south).

As for "visa"; you are required to pay$10 per person for a tourist card on entry into the dominican for stays of upto 2 weeks (if staying longer may have to pay extra); and then on exiting the country there is a $20 per person departure tax; this is paid in US$ so you will need to take some for this reason.
