Restaurant La Baras the leg of lamb is a must as is the veal. All meals are cooked in a clay baked oven.

La Baras is in Cala N'Forcat and been told it was very traditional Menorcan by my friend who went last month.

Calan Bosch is FULL of restaurants all located around a marina. See the resort reviews. There is a full range from Brit food (but even this not tacky) & Pizzerias through to great seafood restaurants. The old capital of Cuidadella is just a short bus ride away & this (apparantly) has some great harbourside restaurants.

On the north of the island is Fornells with its seafood/lobster restaurants one of which is frequented by the King of Spain (they never stop telling you).

Calan Bosch is brillant for restaurants - all around the marina you have a wide range of choice, two of the best are the Avanti and La Bahia but you do have to get there early to get a table

Cuidadella is great for resturants....menorca isnt really the place for Brit bars etc....

There are dozens of restaurants in Menorca that are excellent. If you plan to stay South, then Mahon along the harbour has loads, but near Mahon is a place called Es Castell, comes alive in the evenings, plenty of good restaurants around the harbour, great atmosphere and good food, but our favourite in Es Castell is Espana Bar, it is located in a side street, not far from main town square. Richard Branson eats there!! it is not expensive, but if you like fresh sea food, especially mussels (it is an old family recipe) and their souffle!! is fantastic. Always full by about 8.30pm and never seen it advertised, no need, guests return year after year.

Whichever resort you choose, if you have a car, you will be within reach of plenty of good places to eat, many really good ones, will be a car ride away.

Menorca is NOT an island like Majorca or Ibiza, you will not see rows of places to eat with boards outside stating - full English Breakfast - or chips with everything!

We personally prefer the South - good resorts are S'Algar (but no beach)
Binibeca and Cala Torret - some great places to eat in both, and good beach. Son Bou, Santa Thomas, bigger resorts, more touristy, but the best beaches.

There is an English Mag called Roqueta, published every month from April to October, would give you an insight into the island, and plenty of ideas for eating out, but I do not think you can obtain copies in England, but you can subscribe and have it sent to you over here.

Good luck in your search, but if you are looking for plenty of night life, big department stores, lots of English bars, restaurants with boards for fast food, hoards of people - try somewhere else!

If you want a relaxing, peaceful, good restaurants, safe driving facilities, great beaches, go for it.

Ciutadella has a very good range of food places for its size. The harbourfront is excellent for seafood but more expensive and touristy than in the centre. The main area (Ses Voltes) has perfectly decent street cafes serving snacks (tortilla, pizza, etc) but with a few nicer places as well. As soon as you go to the side streets there are loads of tapas bars (tomatoes and tentacles) and restaurants serving local food and superior pizzas.

Cala N Bosch has a goo range cateringfor all tastes, and youre clse enough to drive into Cuitadella to visit some of the fabulous restaurants there. mose restuarants serve chips, but not with everything!! There are some good ones that have a range of 'british', local and international to suit all tastes.
