surflou,

Have you tried looking at prices with Delta direct or with KLM? While flight comparisson website are good, you'll often find the same deals, and sometimes cheaper booking with them direct. Bear in mind even though flights may be showing as Delta, they may be operated by partner airlines via a hub. Be careful you don't book flights that aren't what they first seem. For example, I'm flying back with KLM from New York to Manchester in June, but the flight from JFK to Amsterdam is a codeshare with KLM operated by Delta with an onward connection to MAN with KLM. As long as you're happy with the price and flight ininerary, just go for it. With regards to insurance, as long as it's comprehensive worldwide travel insurance, it'll cover most of what you need. Bear in mind Delta are a US airline and aren't therefore covered under EU regulations.
