Getting travel insurance when you don't live in the UK can be very frustrating.

Might I suggest you look at the travel policies offered by AXA - which I took when I last visited the US in 2009 - and a policy called Ulysse offered by April.

You may find though that whilst you can get a good amount for US medical cover, you may not be able to get cancellation cover ... Ulysse requires the insurance to be take out at the same time as flights, whereas with AXA you must take the policy out 90 days before travel.

Does Mondial Assistance not have something suitable?

Thanks Alsa, I'll take a look at them all :cheers I believe the policy offered on line by worldwideinsure.com is underwritten by AXA. I just have never bought insurance over the net before, so was wondering if it would be an ok thing to do!!
