We regularly took our daughters on holiday during term time up to the age of 11. Never affected their education and they both got good honours degrees.
When I look at what happens in the few days before an official holiday period, it makes me laugh to listen to "DOE spokespersons" about any absence being detrimental - bring toys/games to school days, sports days,"educational" trips (to Disney,really?), and don't get me started on private study days!

We are interested in going to Malta, kos, nerja, and Madeira next year! Do you get British tv channels in the hotels in these places??? I know we are sad!
We were in Nerj last year and only channel we got was BBC world news
