had to get him back to drs yesterday as pain getting worse, its turned out he now has another infection going through his blood stream as his ammune system is so low after the bug he picked up in turkey, he must have picked up something extrememly nasty to be causing all these problems, hes lost another half stone in last few weeks grrr :duh , dr was shocked to see how much weight he has lost and said his bowel isnt working as it should be, hes in so much pain today hes in bed, im so worried in 2 minds whether to get him to A&E think its disgusting he can be left like this, he hardly slept last night with the pain grrr , hes on antibiotics for this latest infection.

dr said he wont recommend a dietician as they dont know what the problem is

ive had my friend around who lost darren the last 2 days ,shes totally devastated, and im drained with all that too, i hope we can make this holiday as i need a break :duh

Please take this as it is meant - with concern and caring.
You have had a terrible time and we all feel for you, Oz, your family and of course Darren's family but to say that you hope you can still have a holiday when Oz is as bad as he is, is not being realistic.
Do you think going on holiday to Turkey will be the best thing for him and of course you?
I really don't mean to put you on a downer because you have enough to put up with and maybe I am wrong for saying this - I am sure others will correct me but I have read your posts since it started and your concern was when he was hospitialised in a hotel in Turkey so surely the best for him is to be in the UK where you have your friends and family around you both?
Whatever you decide, I really wish you all well and again, I am sorry for not encouraging you to travel when Oz is unwell.
Love to all your family and of course Darrens family and friends. Suzie.

i understand what you are saying, the dr said last week he was ok to still go providing he was careful not eating spicy or rich food and didnt drink too much, but he has got worse since then, if he continues to get worse then we wont go on holiday, im hoping the antibiotics kick in soon and help, we will see what the consultant says on tues as hes the expert and follow his advice. this holiday was booked in jan before he got taken ill or i would never have considered booking it, also i feel sorry for my friend as shes still going without Darren but she felt safe cos we were there although in a different hotel and not on the same flight, we will have to see how things go this week , we have 2 weeks before the hol :que

Oh karen I dont know what to say for the best here. My near jerk reaction would be to get him to that A+E now but he will still be left for the hospital to carry out tests, possibly for days when you could be seeing a specialist a lot quicker on Tuesday . If he gets any worse I dont think you should take any chances though .

I think it would be better not to think about this holiday for now as it's just giving you more to worry about when you have so much on your plate there . If you can't go you know there will be plenty of others . :kiss

Only just caught up with the latest posts on here. My thoughts are with you all, at such a difficult time.

I'm with Lyn on this one. I think you need to take one day at a time, and see how things develop. Don't put any more pressure on yourself, on top of what you already have.

Me too Karen, just try and get through the weekend. Many people say it takes between 24 and 48 hours for anitbiotics to kick in so maybe by Monday morning he will be feeling better. I suppose if he gets worse you will need to go to A&E, thank goodness you have the consultant appointment early next week.

i know so glad we are seeing consultant on tues, had letter of confirmation and if we want them to do the biopsy on his bowel its £1550 :yikes , omg nearly fell over when i read that :duh

he didnt sleep well last night cos when he lies on back his stomach hurts and on sides his groin area hurts grr, hes dosing himself up with paracetamol, and going back to drs tues morning to get stronger pain killers then consultant tues night, hopefully if he manages to not get worse we will know more tues night. im hoping the antibotics for this groin infection will kick in soon

cant beleive this bug he picked up in turkey can cause such major long term problems grr, would love to know what it was or where he got it from, dr suspects it was from food or drink and could have been up to 24 hrs before symptoms started , so that doesnt really help.

hes just said hes not quite in as much pain as yesterday but he was up in the night taking paracetamol too, so think if he takes them regular it will take the edge off, hes not allowed nurofen as that will cause more probs.

Just catching up here too. I'm sending all my best wishes to you and Oz, Ellie-Meg. I hope he gets sorted soon. This is dragging on for a heck of a long time without any sort of proper diagnosis. There's nothing worse than being in constant pain.

Condolences to Darren's family, it must be especially hard for his step daughter, bless her. I can't imagine what thoughts must be going through her head at losing 2 dads in such a short space of time.

I'm sending my love to you all.

Sounds a bit more promising if he is not in as much pain as he was Karen, perhaps the antibiotics will start to work soon. How long is it since you were in Turkey ? It seems to have been going on a while now. Perhaps if the consultant thinks that the biopsy is necessary you can go back to your GP and get an urgent referal to a consultant on the NHS, although even an urgent referal on the NHS can be a few weeks, but better than the usual 4 months. Got my fingers crossed for both you and him, you are really going through it at the moment. :(

chris it started on 28th july day before we were due to fly home, so it is a long time ago grr. yes we are hoping the consultant thinks its urgent, its the weight loss thats so worrying, hes not been this weight since he was a teenager, :duh , we looks so thin and hes usually quite broad across the chest being a builder but he looks awful. we asked gp if he could speed things up and he said only if the appointment comes through for around 4 mths + then he might be able to, but not until we get an appointment grr +

darren's funeral is a week on tues, it was his birthday this weds so we all going out for a meal to celebrate his life. found out a bit more why he died now, he had leaking blood vessels around his neck area aswell as the urine infection
