Chavs are best described HERE. I stayed at the Sun City not long after Nicole, and most of the clientele were lovely.
We are not 'chavs' but we're not posh either and we met plenty of 'normal' people, some with good opinions of the hotel, some with not-so-good, but all fairly articulate and pleasant about it all.
I haven't written my review yet, because I was rather fed up with the place when we left, the weather had been extremely hot, I had twisted my ankle quite badly on some poorly-lit stairs at the hotel on our 5th night (still sore now) and I was quite glad to be home. But in all fairness, we had a good holiday and if I'd have written a review straightaway it wouldn't have sounded so good. We've been home a week now and I'm starting to miss the place a bit, so I'll be able to write a more balanced review now I've had time to weigh up the good and bad points. There's nothing worse than a review which just says something like "Wot a hellhole, do not go there" without giving any further details

hi cyber
I think that was the trouble with the review it didnt really give any facts. It just ran the the place down.
As you know I stayed in Olu Deniz just before you and all the people who were walking around seemed like ordinary folk trying to enjoy a pleasant 2 weeks in the sun. I can't beleive the people at your hotel were much different from those at mine. As you say, not 'posh' but not 'rough' which I suppose is the old fashioned word for Chav. Just normal people having their holiday.

Thats what upset me a bit about the post..that someone thought everyone in the hotel was really rough...eg me!!..i consider myself normal and i also did hear a few quite posh voices amongst the guests...i just think that hotel reviews shouldn't be so personal.I mean, did the posters think THEY were the ONLY normal people in the place...well good for them if they did...lol.....nicole

Well i recommended the sun city to my dear friend as i really wanted her to try turkey. I was a little scared as although she is what we all describe as normal she is a very well turned out, spotlessly clean, strictly 4* plus sort of person (she wont mind me descibing her as that  ) but she also has a family to consider and like us all wants her children to be happy too.

Needless to say she had the best holiday of her life :D her children cried when they had to leave. yes she said there were a few niggly little things that upset her but these were small. she had a look round practically every hotel in olu including the olu deniz resort (so dont know how she conned her way in) and said they all looked beautiful and very good but felt she had made a good choice taking everything into consideration and her childrens happiness .she definately had no complaints over the food or the clientel. they made lots of good friends.

you see I would have said a chav was someone obsessed with OTT designer gear - picture daniella westbrook head to toe in burberry, a fake tan and absolutely no class, taste or modesty.

People in naff tracksuits, baseball caps and cheap gold chains and sovreign rings are scallies

Now we have established what Chavs and Scallies are, it might be best if we return to the subject of hotel reviews and their accuracy.

After all, Chavs and Scallies need to holiday somewhere

Many thanks

I have stayed in several places which have had a mixed bunch of reviews and often some really worrying comments, but we've always had a fantastic time. The worst hotel we stayed in was the Gran Hotel Casino Royal in Lloret de Mar (it was on "Holidays Undercover" a couple of weeks ago), it was hot and stuffy, and very noisy, but we met lots of great people and that was what made it a good holiday for us.
You can often form an opinion of the person writing the review just from the comments they make, and then you can see what sort of thing would appeal to that sort of person, if you know what I mean. Sometimes people can make really bad comments about the food or the entertainment or the rooms, but you can often tell from the tone of the review whether they're the type of people who complain about everything. Sometimes you see reviews that say "it was brill - lots of booze, music, and a good laugh..." these are the type of people who only go on holiday to eat and drink as much as they can and may not take too much notice of things that other people would consider a problem.
It is difficult to write a balanced review, and it's difficult to decide whether to book a particular place when the reviews are vastly different from one family to the next. However, all reviews are helpful and I'm very grateful to all the people who take the time to write them, whether good or bad.
Now, I really must get on with writing my review....

I just wanted to endorse what Cyber says, although it was me moaning about one of the reviews in question not being very helpful. I am also very grateful to people who post reviews. If I'm interested in a hotel or resort I will read any reviews on HT plus a few other sites, and they are one of a few factors, along with cost, have I visited before etc that I use to help decide where to go.

I know it can be a chore to post a review, especially if you take the time and trouble to do it properly, (I often dont do it till back for a week or so). But it does annoy me when people use a site to obtain information that helps them decide where to go, you follow their posts because you are interested yourself, you know they are back, think you will check their review, and nothing is there  I think that's a bit selfish.
