Although my website is designed for sailors, you may find some of the information on it useful. We loved Milos. It is quiet outside the Greek high season - second week of July to last week in August. Then it jumps into activity.

Some of the coastal cruises visit outstanding spots, and there are many very beautiful and empty beaches around. Visit the mining museum in Adamas for an insight into what life was like on the island during it's mining heyday - some lovely videos of old inhabitants being interviewed - subtitled in English. And take a bus up to the village on top to look around to see what the beaches are like . . . azure blue, empty, no brollies and sunbeds . . .

Oh, choose a light wind day for any trips around the island, unless you have strong stomachs!

Thanks for your reply ... since posting I have changed my mind on islands (this is not unusual!) and I am now looking at Paros but cannot decide to go for Parikia or Nassou.
