The Rocomar or the Sol-e-Mar spring to mind ;)

I can second that plus the Boavista Belver and Estalagem do Cerro, which are 10 minutes walk from the town and beaches. The Rocamar and Sol e Mar are next to the beach and the only two hotels in the old town area that actually are.

Try the Brisa Sol or the Cerro Allogoa
Both are roughly in the middle of both the Old and New towns so you get the best of both

Try the Hotel Baltum in the old town, its so central you could stroll home anytime and not feel unsafe. It has not got a pool but is a 2 minute walk to the beach.

Baltum might be a bit noisy Mandii, and D-R did specify out of the noise... :que
