Don;t know how well you know Paphos but a good restaurant is called Romeos. Leaving Paphos you walk on the main road between the church and the school, cross over and go straight ahead. The restaurant is on the right hand side. We went here at New Year, had a brilliant meal and a brilliant time. Sorry about dodgy directions

Hi,

If you have a car then drive out to the villages - there are lots of good tavernas in small villages.

A favourite of mine is Peyia tavern in Peyia (appx. 15 min. drive from Paphos).

If you are out in the summer then drive up to Viklari (the Last Castle) for a BBQ lunch. Breathtaking views and good wholesome BBQ chicken or pork with salad, potatoes and bread all for CYP5 a person.

There is a non-commercial website which has just started up which contains reviews of restaurants, tavernas etc in the general Paphos area. There are allsorts covered there and it will grow day by day as more people add reviews.

It is worth taking a look at http://www.paphos-eating.com

Hope this helps a little,

Viv

Can wholly endorse Peyia Tavern - we had a fabulous meze there in August and I thought the food was never going to stop arriving at the table. Maria the owner & her family as so friendly and accomodating you feel like one of the family. Lovely surroundings and fantastic scenery on the drive back down from Peyia. :D

Aha. It will be my 7th visit to paphos in september and I have been to the castle, we had a few drinks and a village sald with bread as we had already had some food that lunchtime. It is a lovely view, will definatley have the bbq when we go. I will try the meze in Peyia also. I have heard of it before. Thanks alot for the info. Please let us know more places as we have 14 nights there. I would like to know where I can get a cypriot buffet meal also.

Thanks.
John.

Kath morning..Viklari or Last Castle as some call it is past Coral Bay on towards Agios Georgios, take the Akamas turn follow the rough road to Lara Beach then look for the Viklari sign, you can make it in a hire car but I would recommend you use a 4x4, open during daylight hours normally and closed in winter.

see link for more info than you can shake a Cyprus snake at!!

Hi ALL

Have eaten at both places & cannot fault either. the last castle has breathtaking views & the bbq is fantastic & extremely cheap.

peyia tavern i think this has been mentioned here a number of times & it really is worth a visit, very welcoming & a meze to die for.

Also well worth a visit is the Lara restaurant.
Carry on along the Lara Beach track and the Lara is signposted on the left.
Chicken and potatoes - excellent, and draught Leon!! (Leave it, Jim. )

Lara Restaurant. (Look carefully, you might just make out the Viklari.)
