Karon Beach is a glorious stretch of sand, with beds and umbrellas for rent. South of Karon, it can be walked or take a tuk-tuk is Kata again another glorious beach. Snorkelling can be done on the rocky promintories at either end but in May the sea may be a little rougher which causes more sand in suspension in the water.

As for eating most people tend to eat out of the hotels in Thailand. Karon and Kata have plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Eating out of an evening we budget £10 for two of us including a beer each and a multi course meal. The hotel will have plenty of restaurants more expensive than eating out but still good value by UK standards. Drink in the hotels can be steep better to to sup outside or bring your own in
