Just wondering if anyone has been to cairo by private car/mini bus etc there are four of us and we will have two kids aged 4 and 6 I think it will be less hassle and more of an adventure to travel by road.
Im curious to learn from anyone who may have done this in the past and any advice and information they may be able to offer in terms of cost, time, tour company/taxi etc etc
Have you been to this area before?
It's a dessert road, very bumpy and winding, with security checkpoints and armed police guards and missiles are in bunkers at the side of the road. Its a 7 hour journey. It is not a proper dual carriageway, and the rules of the road are different. You get the view of oil fields and have to go through the Suez Canal..... but you are not in the town of Suez.
Cairo suburbs go on for miles, and you think you are there, and it's an hour to go. I wouldn't recommend it.
Use a tour company, it's less hassle.
