We are going to the Sonesta Club later in the year. What facilities at the Sonesta Beach can we use - (restaurants, food, bars etc). We are all inclusive

Thanks

Thats really strange because we are going to Sonesta Beach at the end of May and my sister in law and her family have just yesterday booked to go to the Sonesta Club at the same time.
They did want to stay at the Sonesta Beach but there were no rooms left.
She is trying to make contact with the hotel directly to check this out as they would want to come down to us at the Beach each day.

I sent an e-mail to them yesterday asking this exact question, here is the reply:

Good evening,
Thank you for your e.mail and your interest at Sonesta hotels Sharm El Sheikh,
Sonesta Club clients are entitled only to use the Beach at Sonesta Beach, for using the outlets it will be extra charge

I am sorry but i have been to the Sonesta beach for years, sometimes twice a year. You can use any facilities at the Sonesta beach if you are staying at the club, except charges will be made for the gym, casino and tennis etc. We know people who sit by the pools etc and stay all day. Also the Sonesta beach residents can use the facilities of the sonesta club, including the disco nightclub.

Hi Michelle

The Gym is at the Sonesta Club so there shouldn't be a charge ? Oh I didn't mention that the tennis courts are no more at the Sonesta Beach, they were all getting dug up for some sort of development when we were there.

I am wondering if the confusion occurs if as you have been told that Sonesta Beach is becoming all inclusive (AI) and that would mean that guests from Sonesta Club might have to pay, what do you think ?

Hi graham

SBR does have a gym in the back of the sauna room, its a shame if the tennis courts have been dug up, naughty really as the latest info in the thomson brochure still states you can hire equipement.

As for A1, Sc is A1 as well now. The sonesta club can enjoy all the facilities at the SBR, it states this in the thomson brochure, so if there are any problems with this, take a copy and show the Manager of the hotel :cheers

Mrs Kiltie went to the gym everyday and she was told that the only gym was in the Sonesta Club so she had to go there, there was also no mention of a sauna in the Sonesta Beach hotel :que

hi all . getting some good prices for both the SC and SBR for next easter . can anyone tell me what hotel of the 2 would be the better for older teens (18 and 16). I would prefer the SBR as its on the beach but the enjoyment of my two eldest boys is also important to me .

Hi Graham

I have to be honest here and say i have never used the gym, can you remember the health club near reception? Apparently the thomson info is leading us to believe the health-club has a gym, sauna. gym and steam room, the whirlpool bath is at the Sonesta club. All i have mentioned is in the thomson summer collection May 2008-October 2008. The above is not part of an A1 option.
On the SC page it mentions more or less the same thing in the brochure!!!

So if they havent one, why are thomson saying they have? They need to read what they are printing, this is very mis-leading Graham :really

My excuse is, too hot to walk anywhere let alone use a gym :sun2

Hi Michelle

:que I don't remember the health club near recption, is there one ? that was never mentioned or spotted.
Never saw anything either and again nothing mentioned for sauna or steam room, I like a suana :(
I do remember tagging around the Sonesta Beach with Mrs Kiltie while she enquired about the gym and she was told several times that it was over at the Sonesta Club and told that there was no gym in the Sonesta Beach.
Something also sticks in my mind about the rep saying that there was a gym in the Sonesta Beach but when we went to where she said it was we were sent to the Sonesta Club.

You will have do a bit of investigating when you are there.

:rofl I know there is definitely a sauna etc in the health club with the massages as we passed it everyday.

Where reception is, walk along side the pool to the end, as if you were going to the beach.

There is a health club near one of the paying restaurants, ? roof in (never went there), all the staff where white and are always asking you if you want a massage. There is normally a sign outside asking you if you want the full cleopatra programe.

Hi Lyn

For the age group of the boys, i would recommend the SBR, there are alot of swimming pools to relax, and you can do diving from the beach, if you do that i can recommend the Oonas dive bar, they are English. SC is more orienated towards younger children imo. Although there is a night club at the SC, there isnt at the SBR. You are right on the beach with a fab array of water sports to choose from. Both are equally nice in different ways. SC is a lot smaller than SBR.

No there is no gym in there, that is where the rep sent us.

Thanks for that Michelle , I was hoping you would say the SBR. The boys are at that age now where they like a dance and a beer or 2 and others around of the same age that they can enjoy a late evening with. I feel happier if there is somewhere on site that they can use so a nightclub is always a bonus for me . Can guests at SBR use it and do you know if it is part of the A/I. they would also be within easy reach for Naama bay for the hardrock cafe etc. Definately a hotel worth considering . I really wanted to go back to Hilton sharks bay but its coming up too expensive at the moment, and I really must stick with a budget next year so unless I can find a good deal I need to think elsewhere.

Hi lyn

A SBR it is usual Egyptian dancing at night, not really teenagers scene, but half an hours walk into Naama bay is hard rock cafe, the other side of the mall. After 11 at night i think they do music and dancing although we havent been that late into the evening. I can also recommend the camel bar and the bus stop for beers and music etc. Camel bar is all nationalities but a lot of English go in there. Quad biking at 11 pm is a must do, so much fun (so i am told) we are going to do this in June.

On top of the Oonas beach bar is an amazing view of all around the bay, its a great place to meet friends, smoke the shisha pipe and have a drink.

All guests from either hotels can use their facilities and night club, its just the extras you pay for.

On the beach is a restaurant, and you can get on your A1 status drinks and food without leaving the beach. All the pools i think have swim up bars/or you can purchase drinks as well.

Anything else i can help you with, please ask.

Thank you so much Michelle . That has been really helpful. Im beginning to think it could even be a good option for us for 2 weeks in the summer as oppossed to an easter weeks break .We do mainly prefer the pool whilst on holiday and have to say we do like a buzzy feel with a few games and some music playing . Will we get that at SBR or is the SC more suited in that respect .

lyn

ps . sorry michelle .If the boys were to use the nightclub do you know if drinks there are part of the A/I or would they have to pay. :think

Hi lyn

If you book with Portland direct which is part of Thomson, they are alot cheaper than Thomson. The hotel get booked up really quickly. I would recommend you upgrade your room to a "double double family room paying the excess of £25 pp. The rooms are massive and are shown on the thomson video. I always request the room 1105, right opposite the Pool (although more Italians use it), the cactus pool and bar is a lovely view. If you are sharing a room with the boys or even separate, i would still pay the extra and get the bigger rooms, half the time you dont need air-conditioning on as the walls are thick and white, so hold the cool in.

I can't really answer your question with reguards the disco/nightclub, but i would imagine you will pay for drinks at the SC, same for the Casino in the SBR. A lot of people go to the casino, we are going to try it this June when we go.

Lyn if you are trying to get into SBR this year, it maybe already full? We had to book ours last year to get our requests in.

Good luck.

Ps, If you decide to go to SC, its about a 20 mins walk across a duel carriageway into the back of the SBR, then walk through SBR to the beach or the promenade to get you to the beach, then another 20 mins to walk to the centre of Naama Bay. Personally when we visited SC it was more for younger children and families, SBR is the bigger resort, more to do imo, and nearer to everything, unless you use a cab etc.

Michelle, what date in June are you going?

Me and my family (4 adults + 2 kids) are going to SBR from 29 May to 12 June and my sister in law and family (2 adults + 2 kids) have just booked a last minute holiday this week at the SB, but only for our first week. They are hoping to come to SBR each day and pay to use pool, food & drink etc.

Thanks Michelle . Unfortunately there are 5 possibly 6 of us if eldest sons girlfriend comes too ) so we would need 2 rooms which starts to push the price up on the better rooms . we usually have a week at easter in egypt then 2 weeks in Turkey usually in the summer . Im trying to do a week next easter for £2500 (for 5 of us)but im struggling and the good price is for the small rooms and still over the budget . If we went summer it would be next year . I already have this years booked . :tup . im wondering if thomson do an accomodation only price and I can secure some seats with easyjet at a good price if I grab them the day they come out . may be able to do the better rooms that way. :think
