There are some hotels a few miles from the city centre which might have vacancies.

Try Premier Travel Inn Rownhams, near junction 3 of M27
http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/home.do
There are other locations too.

also Holiday Inn, Southampton West (Adanac park) is just off the M271 , there are others around town too, I'm not sure what direction you'll be travelling from

Hmm that link wasn't much good, was it....sorry!

Anyway the City Centre PTI should be fine, you will be within walking distance of the City Centre shops etc.

Thank you everso much for the links.
I would have loved to stay in the modern glass pyramid hotel - good job they didn't have any rooms as I wouldn't have been able to afford to go shopping then!!!

Hi,

a friend and I stayed in Southampton last year at The Star Hotel

http://www.starhotel.co.uk/

It is very central and located on the High Street. It was one of the cheapest hotels we found, very very central, a short walk from the train station, the ferry ports and the football ground.

To find out more about our stay at the hotel visit: http://www.hostingphpbb.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4&mforum=wannaknowwheret

If you have time whilst in Southampton, the local tourist information/council runs a free guided walk on a Sunday morning - it is well worth going on!

It's a lovely place - enjoy!

I've rung round a few but it seems the world and his wife are going on the 31st of August too!

I think the fact that it is the last weekend in August and only about 10 days before the Southampton International Boat Show may have some bearing on number of visitors.

So, yes, you maybe could meet the world and his wife, and their children.

The Star and The Dolphin, both spring to mind.

Hi, wondered if anybody could help. I am looking for a B&B guest house for one night in November in Southampton, ideally by the theatre and with parking and reasonable rate, would be grateful if anyone could help.

Thanks in advance

I stayed recently at the Jury's Hotel B&B but I don't know any guest houses but if you look at the Southampton web sites I am sure there were Guest Houses.

Good luck

I think the hotel chains are taking over from B&Bs in towns... :?

The Novotel isn't too far from the Mayflower Theatre, there's an Ibis next to it, both an easy walk from the theatre.

there is a Premier Travel Inn a little hike further, but still in the main centre, and a Travelodge a bit further out.

If you just want to book the room, there are loads of places to eat breakfast in town..........

Otherwise, as keela1eva2 says, try a tourism website.

Hi caz

Sorry it's a bit late, you could try the Tourist Information site http://www.visit-southampton.co.uk or call them on 0238 083 3333 and they will send you a list of B&B's.

I was trying to book a hotel in Southampton for one night pre-cruise and found that many were already fully booked 11 months ahead. It turns out we will be there at the end of the Boat Show.

However I did manage to book the Premier Travel Inn at £60/night, but have since found out that there is a new ETAP hotel opening November/December http://www.etaphotel.com I couldn't book it online as it only went up to June 2008, but I called them on 0871 222 2288 and managed to book.

A room for one night is only £32 and you can have optional Continental breakfast at only £2.95pp. It's located opposite the Central Train Station.

The telephone number is 0238 022 7705.
