Holiday Charter flights tend to run from Beginning of November / end of October.
If you want to go in October you will probably have to go on a scheduled flight via Bombay.
For example 2008 start of season for Monarch is 1st November.

Also last year the Beach shack Licence fiasco meant that many Beach Shacks were not erected until late October.

October tends to be pre-season, but you might prefer this.

really best to leave it till november to make sure you get really good weather.
before you get any recommends of hotels etc. you need to say if you like a lively, or quiet relaxing, or something in between type of holiday. all a catered for in goa.
